LABOR DAY TOURNAMENT 2019

TOURNAMENT RULES

 

- 3 GAMES GUARANTEED

 

- Saturday: Pool Play
  Sunday: Elimination Round

 

GYM RULES

 

- PLEASE RESPECT SOUTH HILLS HIGH SCHOOL, their staff and league officials.
  Failure to comply with rules may result in Superstar Basketball losing its gym privileges. Respect the rules!

 

- Teams must clean up after their bench after the game.

 

 

I.      

GAME PLAY

 

a.

Time format: (4) 10 minute quarters.

b.

30 SECOND SHOT CLOCK IN THE LAST 2 MINUTES (If deficit is under 10 points)

c.

2 time-outs, per half.

d.

All games will be played under CIF High School Federation Rules.IF High School Federation Rules.

 

II.         

ROSTER MANAGEMENT

 

a.

A Team can utilize a maximum of 15 roster spots.

b.

Only General Managers have the authority to add players to the rosters.

c.

The focus of the Labor Day 2019 Tournament is for Gold and Bronze Division teams to "Run It Back".
Teams are allowed a maximum of 2 Platinum Division players (2 games played last season).

d.

A player must play 1 game in order to qualify for Elimination Round on Sunday.

e.

Players that did not play 1 game on Saturday will not be allowed to play on Sunday and are called RINGERS.
NO-RINGERS.
The stats-keeper and the opposing General Manager may ask the player in question. Ringers are classified as players NOT eligible for Elimination Round on Sunday.
There is a fine of $80, so don't even try to sneak in players that aren't listed on the rosters.

f.

Players must bring PHOTO ID. Stats-keepers have the authority not to allow a player to participate if the player does not bring photo ID.

 

 

LIABILITY
Players playing in the league must be responsible for knowing the rules and regulations.
Players forfeit all liability when playing and Superstar Basketball will not be responsible for injuries sustained during league play.

 

 

  

III.         

UNIFORM

 

a.

All players must wear matching colored jerseys with numbers on front and back.
Jerseys MUST HAVE NUMBERS ON FRONT OF THE JERSEY.
TECHNICAL FOULS WILL BE CALLED for jersey infractions as of 1st Game.

b.

Any different colored jersey is subject to a technical foul. Blue and black aren’t the same colors.
White and yellow aren’t the same either. 

c.

Jersey techs may be called no later than halftime. Once the 2nd half begins, jersey techs will not be called.

 

d.

Player must wear a basketball jersey in order to be allowed on the court.
Players wearing t-shirts will not be allowed.

e.

Players have until HALFTIME to shoot jersey techs. Once the 2nd half begins, jersey techs will not be called.
If a player shows up in the 2nd half and is not in compliance with jersey rules, the player will not be allowed to play.

f.

Players in the same team cannot have the same number. Jersey techs will be assessed for this violation.

g.

Players ARE NOT ALLOWED TO USE TAPE/MASKIN TAPE/SCOTCH TAPE/SHARPIES ON THEIR
JERSEYS.
This is very unprofessional and will not be allowed in Tournament Play.

 

  

IV.         

TIME MANAGEMENT

a.

Teams have 5 minutes until the clock starts running. For every minute that passes, the opposing team will be awarded 2 points.

b.

GAME PLAY - CLOCK

 

 1.

Four 10 minute quarters.

 

 2.

Stop Clock for last 2 minutes of game IF differential is less than 10 points.
"Double digit lead means the clock runs"
If the difference is 9 points, the clock stops.
If a player is shooting a free throw and the difference is 9 points, the clock IMMEDIATELY stops.

 

 3.

Overtime – 2 minutes.
First minute is running clock. Last minute is stop clock.

 

 4.

Double OT – 2 minutes
First minute is running clock. Last minute is stop clock.

 

 5.

Triple OT – first team that scores, wins. "Tie Breaker"
THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A 4OT, unless it's a Championship Game.
In the even that a 3OT occurs in the Championship Game, a 4th OT will be added.

 

 6.

If team does not show up by halftime, it's a forfeit.
For every minute that a team is late, the opposing team will receive 2 points.

 

 7.

4 players are required to start a game.

 

   

 c.

TIME OUTS

 

 1.

4 time-outs, all game.
2 Times outs per half, time out do not carry over.

 

 2.

Only 1 time-out in overtime.
Time outs will not carry over from regulation to OT.

 

d.

FOULS

 

 1.

One-and-One on the 7th team foul. 

 

 2.

Two shots on the 10th team foul. 

 

 3.

Each player is allowed 6 personal fouls.

 

 4.

Team Fouls in the 1st half do not carry over.

 

 5.

2 free throws for every technical foul & possession.

 

 6.

If a player accumulates 2 technical fouls, the player will be out of game + 1 game suspension.

 

 7.

Referee has the authority to sit out a player for a maximum of 5 minutes.

 

 

 

e.

POSSESSION

 

 1.

Team that does not win tip-off will have possession in 2nd half.

 

 2.

Team with possession are allowed to advance to half court after a time out only in the last play of the  2nd half.

 

 3.

When the referee declares jump ball, the ball will be tossed at the closest circle.

 

 

V.         

ELIMINATION ROUND

a.

Teams will be ranked based on
1. Team Records
2. Point Differential

b.

Tie-breaker goes to the team that won in their match-up.

 

 

VI.         

CODE OF CONDUCT

a.

There is ZERO tolerance for fighting.

 

1.

Player will be suspended permanently for throwing punches even if it is in self-defense.

 

2.

Referees have the authority to sit a player out to cool off. (Maximum 5 minutes)

 

3.

Team fine for any player involved in a fight - $100.

 

 

VII.         

FINES

 

$80

Reinstatement fee for teams that forfeit.

 

$100

Reinstatement fee for any suspended Player involved in other altercations.

     

 

 

VIII.         

WEBSITE

 

1.

Superstar Basketball League reserves the right to free speech regarding Teams, Players, and Staff members.

 

2.

Errors, typos, wrong information can be removed by e-mailing commish@superstarbasketball.org.

 

3.

Changes can be made within 2-3 days.

 

4.

PAYMENTS

 

1.

Please make payments payable to SUPERSTAR BASKETBALL or VENMO @superstar-basketball.

 

2.

Down Payment is due by Friday, August 30.

 

3.

Full payment of $400 Payment is due before Pool Play on Saturday, September 1.

 

XI.         

REFUNDS

 

1.

Once your team plays their first game, there is NO REFUND.
