CENTURY MARK
3.5.09
I HAVEN'T BEEN POSTING BECAUSE
...I've been trying to score 100 points w/ Kobe
Bryant in 2K9 and still can't do it. Once again,
congratulations to Cisco Acevado for that
remarkable feat. Thanks for taking away from my
shine because 10 minutes before that, people
were talking about my 10 three-pointers, a
career-high. 10 minutes later, you scored as
many points as I did in a game. =(
DAYLIGHT SAVINGS
Move your clocks 1 hour ahead. Don't forget,
it's Daylight Savings Time!
SUPERSTAR TV EPISODE 15
This week features the 100 point
game by Cisco Acevado. It also features the
league's first MVP, Lalo Arroyo and Bank GM
Aries Inguito. Lastly, there's been a lot of
hype for Watchmen lately and there's also been a
lot of hype on one of the league's most
decorated player, Kenneth Ubom. The Watchmen
movie trailer should give the Street Fighter
Gold Division promo a run...
SCHEDULE CHANGES
I'll make one more tonight at 8 p.m. and a
couple more before 5 p.m. on Friday.

IT MUST BE DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME
2.28.09
UPLAND GYM
I got a courtesy call from Upland Gym saying
they double-booked at 4 p.m. That means we are
starting at 5 p.m. on Sunday. All games have
been pushed an hour back. *cough* NJB
*cough*
AWARDS
At our round table, we bring up awards every
week. There are 5 GMs that are in the Top 5, and
3 Superstar Basketball fans that are on top of
the list. As far as MVP and Most Inspirational,
I have no idea who is in the running and you
have two weeks to make an impact. It's getting
serious, son.
YOUTUBE
Some limitations from Youtube had me cutting the
Harry Yoo vs D1 Segment but that should
be uploaded in another video tomorrow.

GAME TIMES

GM MASS E-MAIL
Every week, we e-mail General Managers with GM
information. If you would like to receive a
copy, please click
HERE.
TIMETABLE
The rest of the recaps will be done tonight.
The rest of the write-up for the Standings will
be done by tomorrow morning.
Player of the Week will be announced tonight.
Sortable stats will be updated on Friday Night.
Superstar TV should be uploaded by tomorrow
Noon, as long as YOUTUBE doesn't block any of
the content.
Schedule will be finalized by 5 p.m.
CRYING
FOUL
Just like in any game, someone has to walk away
with the "W" and the other has to walk away with
a "L". That's just a record, just because you
lost doesn't mean you actually lost. We can all
be winners, believe it or not. A philosopher
once said, it's not the end result... it's the
journey that matters the most.
There are several crybabys in the league and the
crying needs to stop. I'm not only watching
games but I take pictures and I videotape games
for highlight reels for Superstar TV
segments. "Flippin off" the camera ruins a
great segment and it only makes you look bad.
Crying to everyone else about how the ref screws
you everytime you lose makes you look like a
cry-baby. This needs to stop, play with
sportsmanship and appreciate the game for what
it is. If you can't handle losing, basketball
isn't the sport for you.
SSTV 14
So far this season, our players have shown their
talent. From dancing (um, yah) to singing (Shanelle
Torres, Alvin Aguilar), it looks like we
Superstar has a lot of talented people. This
week features Luke Montilla singing his
rendition of Maroon 5's, "Sunday Morning." We
also feature the bitter rivalry between "Kung
Fu Panda" Harry Yoo and Dedrick Bates.
Thanks and See You on Sunday, unless your team
forfeits. =) |

GAME TIMES
2.23.09
WALNUT REC
Was it just me or were we on time almost every
hour? Even with games running into OT, games
were still running on time. Big-ups to everyone
for working with us on the schedule.
ASC
Their director was supposed to call me on Monday
but never got around to calling me. As a result,
ASC was double-booked from 6-8 p.m. The result
was us having to wait for courts to open up
after volleyball... and it wasn't just our
league that was affected by it.
Instead of having to wait for a few more hours,
we had to spread out to 4 courts for the 9 p.m.
game. I want to thank all the teams who were
patient with us during our "volleyball crisis."
Boycott ASC on Week 6!!
TEAMS NOT FULLY PAID
Will not get scheduled this week. End of story.
SUPERSTAR RADIO
So a lot of us were cracking jokes on what we're
giving up for Lent. I'm not trying to force my
religion on anyone, thanks for understanding.
We're all different and to the non-Catholics, I
hope I didn't offend you guys. Some of the
soundbytes are hilarious but they'll probably
get edited.
"You should give up dressing like a (fill in the
blank)." - Rocky
"You should give up that haircut, it's not
working for you." - Rocky
"I think I should give up talking trash... yah
right." - Rocky
FINAL SCHEDULE
As of Friday, 9 p.m. I'm working on calling
all these gyms to make sure there's no
volleyball or kids leagues that are playing at
the same time we do. I was just kidding about
boycotting ASC on Week 6... we'll see.
Peace

SECOND HALF
2.18.09
LESSONS ON THE ROAD
We're back at Walnut Rec this weekend. One thing
I did learn was KARMA.
Let me explain. There was a time last season
when time wasn't a big deal. We were running 10
- 15 minutes late and our games would run past
6:30 p.m. It was very inconvenient for the
tenants that rent out the gym at 6 p.m.
The last 2 weeks at Upland Sports Arena was a
taste of our own medicine. Having to wait until
3 p.m. to play our 2 p.m. game was very
inconvenient and we had a lot of complaints from
teams on Week 4. There's NOTHING I can do if NJB
is running late... PERIOD.
With that said, our games will run on time at
Walnut Rec. If your game starts at 12 p.m., the
clock starts at 12 p.m. If you're late, that's
too bad, time will start.
77
teams, 3 years into the job, some would think I
got it down on lock but I'm constantly trying
out new things to improve Superstar. One thing I
did notice was this guy... SD COMMISH, RYAN
FRANCISCO, would start the clock no matter
what, on the DOT!! The only time we did run late
was.... when I ran SD Superstar for the weekend
when he wasn't there. I guess I'm taking notes
from his playbook and we're starting on the dot
from now on.
TWITTER
One other thing I did notice was that a lot of
the GMs weren't receiving info when we were
running late. Having to call everyone, text
everyone, I never really did that and I just
told everyone first-hand that we were running
late.
So I've been messing with my twitter...(LOL) and
yes my
twitter works.
Anytime there's updates on Sundays,
it will be posted on Twitter. Whether we're
running behind because of OT or whether someone
just scored 50 points, that twitter on the
website will provide up-to-date news.
PEACE. |

CHILL-AX
2.12.09
GETTING A BAD RAP
Another week and another delay. I hate it more
than anything else. When it's out of MY CONTROL,
I really can't do anything about it. When games
from another organization run late, it affects
US. Sometimes we overlook having to wait an
extra hour, sometimes we just deal with it.
Not only do teams have to stay an extra hour but
our staff has to stay an extra hour. Not only
that but our refs get paid an extra hour. I own
up to my mistakes but when it's another
organization that causes these delays, another
organization that does something for the kids,
then I really can't say anything.
JERSEY RULE
We have to enforce the jersey rule. We have
little girls gossiping on the sidelines saying
it's a bad rule but where were you during the GM
Meeting back in January? We gave you a chance to
speak on it and now you're complaining. You had
3 weeks to get the jersey situation straight,
deal with the techs or buy some numbers for the
front of your jersey.
It's not a stupid rule. If you want to maintain
the professionalism in the league, you have to
look professional. You don't see nurses wearing
pajamas to work (although some people like
wearing scrubs as pajamas). You don't see police
officers asking the CHP to borrow their unis and
wearing it to work. A rule is a rule, follow it.
NO GAMES ON SUNDAY
Just a reminder, NO GAMES ON VALENTINE'S
WEEKEND. It's President's Day Weekend and
All Star Weekend as well. I can't imagine how
many schedule requests we'd get if we were to
have games this weekend.
LEAGUE FEES
Most teams have played their 3 games. If you're
not caught up on league fees, you're not getting
scheduled.
MIDAS
Thank You to all Gold Division teams who lend a
helping hand on Sunday. That Playoff trailer is
looking good. Just a few minor tweaks and it
should be uploaded by Friday afternoon.
Thanks. |
