We look at the new faces of the league and
Sophomore high-flyer Osh Dabbas of
3G's Sports is making a huge impact in his
second season. The Reigning All Star Slam Dunk
Champion is quickly making a fan out of everyone
including former Dunk Champ, Alphonso
"Flight" White. Is there room for two?

Commish NO MORE ADDS 2.4.09
SUPERBOWL SUNDAY GAMES
All games played last Sunday are going to the
Week 3 archive.
Player of the Week honors will include this past
Sunday's players... that's why it took long to
update.
OUR FIRST TOURNAMENT PAGE
Here's a mockup.
I'm working on finalizing some rules but it
should be linked to our pages once I'm done.
SCHEDULE REQUESTS
A lot of teams ask for morning games but right
now, the lack of gym time is preventing us from
scheduling early games. There is a fix... we get
Walnut Rec in two, three weeks. The order my
staff does the schedule is in the following
order.
1. STAFF - make sure we have enough stats
coverage for All games.
2. PAYMENT - Which teams were given
priority due to them paying first.
3. THE REST
If there are special tapings for SSTV I am
scheduling those games early or when I'm not
playing. I WILL BE TAPING most Gold Division
games this week.
JUST A REMINDER
If your team has played 3 games, NO MORE ADDS.
You don't want an automatic loss and you better
not be trying to add no RINGERS. We have
reversed games in the past so don't cheat!!

Commish DOWN WITH THE SICKNESS 1.29.09
THERA FLU
I really wish I could just pick up the phone and
call in sick right about now. ::cough:: Anyway,
I apologize for the delays, been sick all week
::cough:: and I slept for more than 12 hours
yesterday. Thanks for the hate mail, D-1, I know
I lagged but sometimes, people get sick.
=)
SUPER BOWL WEEKEND
The gym owners are insisting that the games at
11 a.m. and 12 p.m. be played out this weekend.
If any GOLD DIVISION TEAMS would like to play at
11 or 12 this Sunday, Super Bowl Weekend, let me
know via e-mail. I can't cancel these games so
if your team can make it, 11 a.m. and 12 p.m.
are open.
SSTV
A reminder, we're doing 8 episodes this season.
The next episode will be up next Friday,
February 6.
THE BEST NEWS OF ALL
Guess what kiddos. Last day of NJB in Walnut is
Feb. 15. We could be back at Walnut Rec by 2.22
or 3.1. I'll keep you posted.
BACK TO BED
I'll have the rest of the write-ups done
tonight. I told my boss I'm going home early and
I'll do the rest of the recaps tonight. The
bossman is anal about turn-around times this
season... must be the short-man complex. I hate
the Commish too.
Peace.

Commish SUPER BOWL WEEKEND 1.27.09
OUR CULTURE
Just a reminder... Our league is one of the most
competitive leagues in the area. There is a lot
of trash talk and at the end of games,
competitors are usually cool with each other.
Most of the time, players talk trash to take you
out of your game and they're testing you to see
how mentally tough you are. Respect the game,
and respect each other. Amen. lol.
NO GAMES THIS WEEKEND
Gyms are reluctant on renting out their
facilities because of Super Bowl Weekend. We
tried to get make up games this weekend but
after a meeting today, the final answer is NO.
The risk of having players watch Super Bowl,
knowing that a lot of players drink during the
games, was the deciding factor in why there are
no games on Super Bowl Weekend.
TRADES
There are 2 trades that I know about that are
pending and need action. The last thing I want
to see is players sitting out because their GMs
aren't taking action.
IF I AINT CALLIN BACK...
That's cuz I'm busy writing and updating the
site. If it's important, please e-mail me. I get
about 10 MySpace messages and 10 different phone
calls on Monday about the league. My e-mail is
what that's for... please communicate with me
via e-mail. I got no more text messages so...
use the e-mail.

SORTABLE STATS
Should be done by Wednesday night. Team stats
too. So yah, I'm doin work son.

Commish SCHEDULE CHANGE 1.21.09
A lot of teams are asking for Super Bowl Weekend
off. (February 1)
We can schedule games for teams who want to get
caught up with the rest of the league and all
games will be morning games. We should have
times posted by tomorrow evening.
PRESIDENT'S DAY WEEKEND
A lot of teams are also asking to play on
President's Day Weekend. Not only will a lot of
players be out of town but the
NBA All Star Weekend
is on the same weekend. That weekend (February
15) also falls on uhh... Valentine's Day Weekend
so a lot of teams may forfeit. A lot of teams
have asked to play but because of um... the All
Star Weekend I gotta say no to that suggestion.
DIRTY FLOORS
The gym floors are dirty but that's because the
tenants before us is a kids basketball league.
Keep in mind, kids don't wear different shoes to
play basketball and kids are generally dirty, no
offense.
RECAPS
Done on Wednesday morning? What in the world?
TRADES
When you commit to play for a team, keep in mind
that you're basically telling the General
Manager that you'll be playing for the whole
season, playing for 8 games, and you're
dedicated to helping the team out. If you played
one game and you're demanding a trade already,
that just shows how much of a quitter you are.
You don't quit on a team after just 1 game. It
shows your character and you're not only
insulting yourself but you're insulting the
team, and the league. We don't want a bunch of
quitters whoring around from one team to another
trying to win a championship. This is not what
Superstar Basketball is about.
If you feel that you can't play with a team and
you absolutely need a trade, have your General
Manager post a
trade OFFER in our FORUMS.
The trade must be for an actual player and both
GMs from both teams must approve the trade.
There is a 1 week waiting period, that means a
player CANNOT play in the morning and then play
at night for another team.
Why are we so strict? Well, a trade went down...
and two months after a trade went through, I was
still accused of an unfair trade and I came out
looking like the bad guy. We lost the team, and
they made it seem like I got their franchise
player and assigned the player to another team.
Don't get it twisted, there's no way I would
assign one player to another team... it is what
it is.
Peace.

Commish CHANGE 1.20.09
I never thought I'd see this day in my lifetime.
Today, we celebrate the inauguration of Barack Obama, our 44th
President. I'm not one to get political but this day
is historic, it marks that anything is possible.
Racism doesn't end today, it will probably never
end but today, we take a big step towards
change.
I remember when Rocky Anciano wrote a
story,
"Race With No Finishline."
Basketball isn't a race sport, politics
shouldn't be about race, it may have been in the
past, it might still be in the future, but now I
can say times have changed.
Today, we bestow faith in a man who will lead
our country for the next 4 years. Times are
rough, we're in a recession and I'm hoping he
succeeds in his time in office. Good luck, Obama.
