NEW TREASURER
9.17.09
NO WORKMAN HIGH SCHOOL...AGAIN!!
We're finding a different gym, but just to let
you guys know...
we do not have Workman High School.
TENTATIVE SCHEDULE
I used to do it a lot...you know update the
schedule every hour, every day.
We can't really update it if we're still waiting
on gym availability.
Thanks for being patient.
NEW TREASURER
One of the hardest things about being Commish is
collecting money. It slows down the process and
I want to stick to what I'm good at: web,
photos, videos...
I can't really do that if I'm having to contact
teams about their payment so next season we have
a new role, Treasure.
Victor Ng, former GM of Silent But
Deadly, has a good history of paying first and
he's shown he's responsible. Next season, he'll
be the one collecting fees, e-mailing teams with
receipts, and doing the whole finance thing.
SALE PRICE
We basically offered $550 for this week so that
it gets teams to pay ahead of time. Next week,
the price will jump to normal price. We'll have
a sale here and there but for now, the $550
price will only last until Friday.
Thanks.

550
9.11.09
A lot of teams are inquiring about next season.
- What fixes are there?
- How will it be different?
- What's up with the scheduling?
- Will we secure gyms?
WE ARE SECURING GYMS BEFORE SEASON STARTS
From now until September 19, TOTAL GYM FEES
are only $550.
That's right. $550. This is the lowest
priced ever. We know times are
tough, the economy is down, so we're knocking it
down to as long as $550.
Sale ENDS September 19.
REGISTER FOR SEASON 14
Thanks.

As a reminder, Women's teams get 7 games.
Thanks.

LABOR DAY WEEKEND
9.2.09
Not enough teams wanted to play this weekend,
Labor Day Weekend.
Because a lot of teams want a bye weekend, WE
WILL NOT HAVE GAMES THIS SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 4.
DOWN THE STRETCH
This hasn't been one of the best seasons and
there's too many distractions. I want to finish
strong, update the website entirely during Labor
Day Weekend, but I need your help.
Payment has been the toughest thing to enforce.
Season 1, 2, and 3, we were good but when the
league got bigger it was tougher to enforce full
payment and then came the 80's List.
Last season, a lot of teams were asking to have
fees paid up front. Six Weeks into this season
and teams still have a balance. If you want to
continue your season, The last day to make a
payment for your league fees is September 4.
We're working on the schedule for September 13
and we will only schedule teams that are fully
paid. Paying for gyms in advance means we're
guaranteed of gym time... and you know we
haven't had Walnut Rec in the last 2 weeks so
please get your payment in.
Thanks.

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
8.30.09
Things happen for a reason.Sure we didn't get
Walnut Rec for the past 2 weeks but the fall out
can't be all that bad.
1. Summer season has been extended an extra
week. We will have make-up games on Labor Day
Weekend and September 13 will now be Week 7,
Rivalry Week. Fall Season will start on October
4, and there will be no breaks in between the
season.
2. During the Fall / Winter Season, we're
usually not playing at Walnut Rec because of NJB.
This season, we're actually in a situation where
we HAVE to look for gyms ahead of time. We're
building a relationship with Workman High School
and the transition to the fall season where we
don't have Walnut Rec will be much easier
compared to season's past.
3. A lot of players have personally e-mailed me
and they are willing to secure gyms in our area.
Instead of criticizing our program, people are
doing their part and the payoff is access to
gyms during a time when it's hard to get gyms.
4. In the past, we've been lenient with payment
plans but this season, we've had to tighten up
much sooner. Hopefully with Walnut Rec locking
us out for the past 2 weeks, teams and players
are realizing that prompt payment is important.
This helps the GM a lot because most of you
know, GMs are usually stuck with most of the
bill. While players are complaining that they're
not playing because they're behind on payment,
GMs are high-fiving each other knowing they're
not stuck with a huge bill at the end of the
season.
Peace.

THE CITY
8.29.09
The City works slow...
Certain things have to be done a certain way.
When they told me a FULL PAYMENT has to be made
before USAGE, they were serious.
So, if I turn around and update Commish's Corner
and say...
"Hey you guys, you have to submit a payment
before Thursday to get scheduled..."
and in return everyone says....
"Hey...we will have it on Sunday..."
...then how would we secure a rental when...no
one is making a payment.
With that said, a payment was submitted late on
Friday night and NOW....
NOWWWWWW....the City doesn't have anyone that
can accept a payment on Saturday.
This was the same thing I dealt with last week.
I guess the City only has 3 people that can
accept rental payments. All 3 aren't working on
Saturday.
To make a long story short, we don't have Walnut
Rec this Sunday. If your team said they'll make
a payment on Sunday, make sure to drop by
Workman High School on Sunday to make the
payment. I have everyone's balance sheets there.
I guess we do have to play on Labor Day Weekend.
FML.
Thanks. |

UPDATE
8.28.09
So...only 1 team stepped up to the plate. The
rest said they'll pay on Sunday.
We can't secure the gym for the next so and so
weeks if another team doesn't step up and take
care of their league fees.
We still don't have Walnut Rec, so what's the
point of uploading a schedule. We can't have a
gym on Sunday...if everyone is trying to pay on
Sunday.
Anyway, I'll keep everyone posted. Peace.
Thanks. |

I HATE MONEY
8.26.09
In a perfect world, all WE want to do is play
basketball.
In a perfect world, I'd be at the gym all day,
running 2-a days, lifting weights, eating,
eating, and playing ball.
But it's not. Bills gotta be paid....and with
that said...teams had until Week 3 to fully pay
off their league fees. Teams who aren't caught
up with league fees or are behind ref fees DID
NOT GET SCHEDULED FOR WEEK 6.
It's a TENTATIVE SCHEDULE.
If your team wants to get scheduled from here on
out, e-mail me!!
I lost my phone, so DO NOT CALL ME.
E-MAIL ME at
commish@superstarbasketball.org or to make
it easier for your team, please make a payment
via Paypal.
THE LAST DAY TO GET SCHEDULED IS THURSDAY NIGHT.
Thank You. |

What happens when you get a gym taken away at 4
p.m. the day before Sunday?
DISASTER.
2 Forfeits, 2 teams changing match-ups and 1
prima-donna going off on Twitter about how the
League is horrible when his own team forfeited.
It's been a tough morning and the hardest part
is out of the way.
Stay Tuned. It can't get any worse, can it?
