SUPERSTAR TV, EPISODE 20   (6.4.09)

Tragedy struck B.O.B. when Anthony Santos suffered a leg injury in his college basketball class. Six months later and Santos has bounced back with a furry for Game Bang DT. His team, B.O.B. is on pace to set a record 21-3 in a span of 3 seasons.

FANS
6.27.09

Some Fans needs to learn what the word respect means.

Here's some background...
SSBL's only fight was between FANS and players (Fall, 2008).

Fast-forward to last week...
The Show vs. B.O.B. had benches clear but no punches were thrown. There was an altercation but players know the rules. Obviously Fans don't because a fan brought a chair, yes a CHAIR!
Why are fans escalating tension?

B3 vs. Young Gunnaz...
I'm doing stats and saw a fan walk right through the court during a time out. Then the fan tells me we need better refs. The team she's cheering for is down 21-0 because most of their players just played the game before (Platinum Division, Relics) You would expect them to be tired instead the fans call me out for not having better officials?
One approaches me and I say, "walking on the court fixes that?"
Next thing you know, I get a Jerry Springer reaction. WTF?

Need some new refs? We tried that and you saw what happened, all hell broke loose last Fall. (Fall 2008, Association refs)

As a team, you need to keep your fans in check. Disrespecting me or my staff because your team is losing won't be tolerated. You pay to play organized basketball, not to be on the Jerry Springer show.

Peace.

H1D1
6.26.09

That H1N1 or whatever I had had done me up.
I don't know how Kobe or those basketball players play with the flu because lil ol me had to be bed-ridden last week.

If you follow me on twitter... well there wasn't much to follow since I was knocked out sick all week.

I don't know how much NyQuil I had but I woke up to Shaq getting traded to the Cavs, Air Canada flying thru Florida, and King of Pop passing away.

What in the world is going on.

MICHAEL JACKSON
Love the music. Loved the lyrics. The Moonwalk. Billie Jean. Rock With You. Girlfriend. Bad. Thriller. The man was the 80's.

I grew up on him, dance because of him, cried when I first saw Thriller... not because I liked it but because I was afraid of werewolves at the time. LOL
When I saw it the second time around, I was dancing and yes, I was a lil b-boy back in Manila.

(Before I started making SSTV videos, I was practicing with this dance footage... never knew what to do with it, but it was practice for editing.)

Loved the music, but didn't like him as a person. Who am I to reserve judgment but that's for God to decide. I only hope we can celebrate the man for what he brought to this world and not the negativity his demons created.

R.I.P. Mike.

EXIT INTERVIEWS
6.19.09

I want to thank the General Managers who filled out the Exit Interviews this past week. Some things that I am aware of that needs to be cleaned up for the upcoming season are listed below.

- Scheduling: This has always been tough to manage. Teams with 4 different players may be playing for 4 different teams and we get a lot of complaints from players when they don't get their way. How about we just have a rule where you can only play for 1 division?

There's a proper way of doing things. Have your GM fill out the schedule request and your request will be taken care of. We take care of the teams who pay first. When you pay first, you get priority. That's not a hard concept to grasp yet some people always want their game times at certain times...and that was when they weren't even fully paid.

- Payment: There was a time when the League trusted teams and players to submit their full payment in due time. This is no longer the case. Players bail out when they have to pay and it leaves a lot of GMs having to pay the rest of the fees. I've heard every excuse in the book and in the last 2-3 weeks of the season, I'm basically stressing over gym fees and not getting the website updated on time. To make matters worse, I get hated on for having things late. Um... how can I work on the site when I'm stressing over gym fees?

Over 80 percent of GMs I spoke with want this new rule: PAY BEFORE YOU PLAY. They are tired of fronting fees for players who don't want to pay.

- Your Computer Sucks: Damn right it does. This is the first time my PC crashed in 4 years and to be honest, I'm still not fully recovered. Every time I open certain programs, I get errors and it gets discouraging. I'm really looking forward to this break, re-format everything, and get ready for the new season.

- Your Refs Suck: Some of them do, some of them don't. In Sports, you will always have scapegoats. There's a winner, there's a loser but to lose with dignity is commendable. It's easy to blame refs but if you actually see how refs are calling the game, you could actually use it to your advantage. If the refs aren't calling anything, play physical. If the refs are calling every single thing, then drive the middle and force the calls. There were officials we did speak with regarding they're officiating. Some of them forget the rules and we did correct that.

- What happened to the Player of the Week pictures?: We will take them at the All Star Game. Last time, several All Stars felt they didn't need to attend. Listen cool guy, you were given an honor, to represent your team as an All Star so show up and represent. If you were a Player of the Week, we will take your solo. All Star Page will have all the POWs at the top of the page.

I'm flooded with schedule requests for the Playoffs. It's the Playoffs! How much do you want it? You worked all season long for this and you're not going to show up? Regular season, we can change your schedule, but The Playoffs? Wait. This is THE PLAYOFFS! Hey, in case you didn't realize, most of the teams play to make it to the Playoffs.  If your team can't make it, let me know cuz a lot of the other teams are willing to take your spot.

PEACE and Good Luck.

POMONA UPDATE
6.13.09

We have Pomona HS after 2 p.m.
Tomorrow is Media Day so uh, smile for the team photos. Unlike in season's past, I should have these up in 3 weeks. Summer break, working on team photos.. FML

We need to be strict as far as payment goes. A lot of GMs are asking for payment plans. The way I see it, this should have been taken care off on Week 3. There's a lot of teams that babbled about payment plans in the past. 50 percent of those ended up as 80's List teams so uh.. NO PAYMENT PLAN

Thanks.

OVERTIME
6.12.09

No I'm not talkin' bout the Lake Show.
It's Friday and now I have people disputing their balances.

You had a chance to meet with me on Wednesday to pay it off.
You had a chance to e-mail me...some even Instant Message'd me to get
it squared off and that's fine and all... but now.. it's Friday. I'm Filipino and all but is everyone on here on Filipino time?

Balance sheets were sent out. If you  didn't email me or show up on Sunday, you will get ignored. Please have the league fees and ref fees in full on Sunday or it's an automatic DQ plus 80's List.

RECAPS AND SSTV
...are all late. Remember back in the 80's, WWF had this guy.
1 Man Gang. Yup. That's pretty much me right now, except I'm not smiling.

Between recaps, SSTV, getting gyms, working on the website...blah blah blah...you might as well add bill collector cuz that's what I've been doing late this week. The league is what you  make it out to be. If people are late, it affects everyone. Some more bad news...

POMONA HIGH SCHOOL
...is a no go this weekend. We will probably have another facility but we'll get it squared away. Schedule won't be final until Saturday morning. Your schedule requests are out the door. All the Laker Haters are playing at 7 - 8 p.m. No requests.

SOME GOOD NEWS
...we hooked up with some good people. We're starting a Varsity Division next season and a 7th division for Year 4 is a great way to open the new Year for us. More info will be available.

PROFESSIONALISM
...so this is how next season will go.
We may potentially have scouts that will be in the stands. We have kids playing in the league this summer and we may have NBA talent on the gym floor. The New Year (Year 4) marks our transition from being one of the premier leagues in So Cal to being the best basketball league in Southern California. How do achieve that in just 3-4 years?

The website will go up in quality, the schedule will be done on Wednesday, and profanity will not be tolerated on the gym floor. Teams with nice looking uniforms will be scheduled during the gyms busiest hours will the scrubby looking teams w/ no jerseys can play at um... =X. A mandatory Ref Meeting with the GMs will be set up so that GMs have a better understanding of how calls are made. Taking this one step further next season...

MEDIA DAY
Please fill out the Exit Interview and take your team pictures at half time. Thank You.

MO MONEY MO PROBLEMS
6.11.09

Only a handful of you guys showed up.
Thanks.

It's your league. I only run it.
Don't be surprised if we don't have Walnut this weekend.

We have confirmed hours at Brea Canyon and another facility. The last thing you want to do is lose Walnut Rec but no one is stepping up to the plate.

Having to double check figures and looking at the amount collected for 70+ teams... to top it off, the file I created was corrupted when my PC crashed so I basically had to re-do it.
F M L

DIVISION REPORT
There's a huge balance in Diamond Division.
Platinum Division - half are Fully Paid.
Gold Division - believe it or not, the league's most popular division has a lower balance compared to Platinum and Diamond.
Only 2 teams have a balance in LeBronze.
Only 1 team has a balance in Women's.

WORKING FOR US
...is a privilege. Taking stats, working for Superstar... is a privilege.
I can do stats myself.
Sad to say but other players take the opportunity to try and get a free season and they expect their GM, the person working for us, to pick up the slack.
NO NAMES MENTIONED.

Let's say uh.. "Bobby" or "Anna" works for the league. The rest of his teammates end up expecting "Bobby" or "Anna" to pay their league fees. This is an adult league. Pay to play. Man up and handle your own. It sucks that some people have excuses for everything but I got my Ipod on and I'm not hearing it.

Bottom line is we need gyms to be paid.

Thanks.
