LIKE THE JEFFERSONS, MOVE ON UP
9.25.09

PLATINUM DIVISION PLAYOFF TEAMS
I will not force you to move up.
But with the Diamond Division left with only 4 teams last season, I am encouraging all Playoff Platinum Division teams to move up to Diamond next season.

The competition level is higher but the days of new Diamond teams coming to the league and trying to take over is no longer there. We need to save Diamond Division and you already know that College players are ineligible to play in any leagues during their season. So what are you waiting for? Move up to Diamond, Platinum. If I have to lead by example, so be it.
"USUCK, you're going to Diamond next season!!"

GOLD DIVISION PLAYOFF TEAMS
The bottom half...from #8 to #16 should stay in Gold.
The rest of you, Buckets, The Rock, Dynasty... should consider playing in Platinum Division next season.

A lot of LeBronze-bound division teams are on their way to Superstar. You might be matched up with some teams who really, really suck. They suck so bad, even I wouldn't want to play against them. I'm just kidding around, but you understand what I'm trying to do here. LOL.

IF YOUR TEAM HAS REGISTERED ALREADY
I need a favor.
I need some videos, pictures of you when you were a kid.
Preferably holding a basketball, wearing some basketball jersey, or a team photo of you and your grade school basketball team or what not.

Please e-mail to commish@superstarbasketball.org
Working on a new video (NOT ON YOUTUBE), and we're using it to promote Season 14.

Thank You.

SEASON 14
9.21.09

FOOL'S GOLD
There are a lot of teams who want to drop down to LeBronze next season. A lot of teams know that there is no Playoffs, the division isn't as prestigious as the other divisions, yet the demand gets higher every season.

The NEW LeBronze Division had 4 competitive teams last season. All the other teams were just in Bronze to have fun, get their cardio, or play with their family teams.  At this moment, there are 3 existing Gold Division teams that have interest in bringing a team in LeBronze next season. The problem is, these teams are Playoff teams in Gold this season.

When G.B.O.B. said they were a spin-off from Game Bang, well they really weren't and the result was a Championship appearance. Any time you give loopholes, people will expose it. Sooner or later, some of the Bronze teams are going to get competitive and they'll look to win a Championship like Phenoms did last Spring. That's not what LeBronze was meant for and sooner or later, you'll have teams in Gold purposely dropping to LeBronze just to win a title.

"EARNING" LEBRONZE
When Bullets and A*Team played in Gold last Spring, they were getting beat by all the other Gold teams. They had intentions of playing in Bronze but the only way in was to be a NON-PLAYOFF GOLD TEAM.

I believe that the best way of solving this is to have your Bronze-bound team play in Gold this season. Your team has to start off in Gold in order to drop to LeBronze. There's 3 teams out there that are wanting to play in Bronze and to keep them competitive, they'll play against some of the lower competitive Gold teams. The GM CAN only play for one of his teams and the GM could still GM the other Gold team.

I'll hear these complaints from teams who want to play in Bronze.
"Our guys suck, blah blah blah."
"We just want to play with family...blah blah blah."

I'd rather hear one complaint from one possible Bronze-bound team than having to hear complaints from 10 teams in Bronze saying their team didn't earn the right to play in LeBronze. I'm not trying to block your team from playing LeBronze, I'm just saying the other teams in Bronze earned the right to suck so bad, they enjoy playing in a lower division. With the new "NO DIAMOND IN GOLD" rule next season, playing in Gold won't be as bad...

ONE LAST THING
Yah, I know how the loophole system works. If you didn't play for a specific team, you can't just take over a certain team and run with it. For example, if umm...  Victor Ng (San Miguel Beermen, Gold Playoff team) wanted to take over a LeBronze team and decided to take over Bomb Squad, a team he never played for, it won't happen.

There's a waiting list for LeBronze. Temporary Gold teams will likely play against each other anyway. If A*Team and Bullets had to do it, then so do you.

NEW TREASURER

NO WORKMAN HIGH SCHOOL...AGAIN!!
We're finding a different gym, but just to let you guys know...
we do not have Workman High School.

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE
I used to do it a lot...you know update the schedule every hour, every day.
We can't really update it if we're still waiting on gym availability.
Thanks for being patient.

NEW TREASURER
One of the hardest things about being Commish is collecting money. It slows down the process and I want to stick to what I'm good at: web, photos, videos...

I can't really do that if I'm having to contact teams about their payment so next season we have a new role, Treasure.

Victor Ng, former GM of Silent But Deadly, has a good history of paying first and he's shown he's responsible. Next season, he'll be the one collecting fees, e-mailing teams with receipts, and doing the whole finance thing.

SALE PRICE
We basically offered $550 for this week so that it gets teams to pay ahead of time. Next week, the price will jump to normal price. We'll have a sale here and there but for now, the $550 price will only last until Friday.

Thanks.

SEASON 14
9.10.09

WELCOME TO SEASON 14, "BACK TO BASICS"
Last season's theme was West Coast Gold Rush II.
Dream Big, Get Big, Live like an All Star...
Sometimes when you think too far ahead, you forget the little things...
the simple things that got you there.

Got way too far ahead of ourselves I mean seriously, 2 divisions?
35 and over AND Varsity Division all in one season?
EPIC FAIL.

LEARN FROM IT
While most would hide their flaws, their failures, I'm going on record to say
I FAILED. I FAILED...at that specific time, I learned from my mistakes but
I'm going back to what made Superstar what it was. We're doing what we
do best and that's running an adult league.

DIVISION BREAK DOWN
Only 4 teams showed up for Diamond last season! It's the biggest season
of the season and ONLY 4 teams show up for the league's elite division?

How do you fix that? Who is to blame? Many of the elite ball players were
either intimidated or they simply didn't want the competition.

Let's break it down...
IF YOU HAVE COLLEGE BASKETBALL experience, you cannot play in Gold.
If you play for a Diamond Division team (GMs are exempted), you will not
be allowed to play in Gold Division.

Some of the elite ball players will have Diamond and Platinum to choose from
while some of the competitive ball players (but not good enough for Diamond)
can play in Gold and Platinum Divisions.

Players who are starting out in the game of basketball, players who are
out of shape, staff members who work all day for Superstar and want to
just break a sweat can play in the league's lowest division, LeBronze.

Don't be a dumb-ass and try to play in a division where you're going to dominate.
You will get grilled in the previews and the recaps if you are purposely trying
to play in a division we know you can dominate. Go out there and challenge
yourself, you won't get better padding your stats.

Not only were there complaints about last season's scheduling but players were tuning out to the podcast as well. Veteran players suggested we tune in to the "Golden Era of Hip Hop" and this season we're going back to the 90's.
