LUCKY
12.12.09

We're lucky to even have gyms, at the very last minute.
It was either push the season back, well into the first week of next year or finish the season now.

If you didn't get your gym times, you probably lagged on payment.

20 of the 50 teams have a balance greater than the ref fees which means they still owe league fees.

Thanks.

BALANCE
12.6.09

- if your team has a balance, come through at Walnut Rec this week and pay it off. Failure to do so means you won't be scheduled and your team is in danger of going to the 80's List.

20 of the 50 teams have a balance greater than the ref fees which means they still owe league fees.

Thanks.

DEJAVU
12.3.09

- Here we go again. End of the season and once again, teams still owe league fees. We only have 4 games scheduled this weekend. I e-mailed every team that owes a balance urging them to pay off their balance on Wednesday night and be caught up to date. So I practically drove from Corona to Walnut only to have 1 team take initiative and get caught up with league fees.

At this point of the season, if your team only has 1 game left, you should only owe $35. Yes, there are several teams that owe $200+

At this point, it looks like the season will be pushed a week back.

Peace

HAPPY THANKSGIVING
11.26.09

FROM OPRAH WINFREY:

"Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough."

2009 wasn't the greatest year, in fact, it was probably one of the most forgettable years I've had to endure. I can look back and whine about this, complain about that but there's no sense in crying over spilled milk. A random thanks as I reflect on this past year.

- I AM THANKFUL FOR God (saying it in my Manny Pacquiao voice) por geebing me ahhhhhh gud health. At 29, I can't be writing previews all night and playing 3 games the next day. I'm fortunate enough not to get injured, I'm lucky to be playing 14 straight seasons and not suffering from any serious injury. For that, I am thankful.

- I AM THANKFUL FOR
the Superstar Basketball Family that make Superstar Basketball what it is. Every Sunday, I get to watch competitive basketball and we have to thank the staff, the friends, the players and the fans who support Superstar Basketball every Sunday. Have you ever gone through a Sunday with nothing to do and being bored out of your mind the whole day? It's not a good feeling.

- I AM THANKFUL FOR the fans who once again made cheering cool this past Fall. Trinicousins, Dipset, and Pharcyde fans made it cool to cheer during games and just to be in that environment reminds me of the good ol' days with Elements, Decepticons, and Deacons. I'm sure the players share the same sentiment as I do. There's nothing like dozens of fans supporting you as you play your rivals. Thank You,  "6th man".

 - I AM THANKFUL FOR the first 6 weeks of this season. No forfeits for the first 6 weeks was unbelievable. That streak came to end on Week 7, and a lot had to do with the new location (Azusa, Memorial Park). Hopefully we can start another streak next season.

- I AM THANKFUL FOR the mistakes I made over the summer. Thanks for the growing pains, GOD, I appreciate it. (no sarcasm intended, cough, jk)

 - I AM THANKFUL FOR the dozens of loyal Superstar Basketball teams who stuck it out this Fall. Last summer was a disaster and for you guys to stay loyal means a lot. I know the economy has been tough on everyone but for you guys to be able to stick it out and still play every Sunday means a lot to me.

 - I AM THANKFUL FOR the refs to give me something to laugh at. I think I know what a foul is and I'm pretty sure I know when a person travels. Somehow, you find a way to watch a different game

 - I AM THANKFUL FOR the refs. They are great officials. =)

 - I AM THANKFUL FOR City of Walnut, Azusa, Iriwindale, and all the gyms we use.

 - I AM THANKFUL FOR adobo (filipino food), pancit  (filipino food), turkey, ham, cheese, rice, pootang pie, more adobo, more pancit, coke, beer, shots, advil, and diet Coke. (I never understood how people eat a lot but order a Diet Coke, like they were on some diet). I am NOT thankful for the runs I'm going to get the next day after I eat all that food. =(

Peace and God Bless.

SMOOTH TRANSITION
11.19.09

SOME REMINDERS

- THERE ARE NO GAMES ON THANKSGIVING WEEKEND!
- Players that ARE NOT GMs cannot play in LeBronze and any other division. It's one or the other.
- Players may not be added after the 3rd game your team plays.

EASY DIRECTIONS TO MEMORIAL PARK

- If you're coming from the Inland Empire, this is the fastest way to our new location.

-  From the 71 or 60, take 71 North, 10 West and head on to 57 North
- Take the 57 North and get on the 210 Freeway (West)
- Exit Azusa Ave and instead of making a left off the ramp, go straight. There's a lot of traffic if you make that left so just go straight.
- Make a left on 3rd Street and go 1/4 mile down. You'll see the baseball field on the right side, keep going straight.
- You'll see Orange Ave but just pull in to the parking Lot.

- NRC Gym is the North Gym, the white building which is furthest from 3rd St.
- MPK Gym is Memorial Park Gym, the brick building which is closest to 3rd St.

The buildings are literally 20 feet apart from each other. They are both on the same site, but it's two different buildings that are separated.

The ice cream man comes around at 4 p.m.

DIRECTIONS FROM IRWINDALE TO MEMORIAL PARK

If you have additional questions, e-mail me ahead of time or check out Google. Please leave earlier than usual just so you arrive early. The last thing I want to see is 20 different calls on Sunday with people asking for directions. Let's all plan ahead of time.

Thanks

RIVALRY WEEK SCHEDULE
11.18.09

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE

This is a very, very tentative schedule.

I may switch all Diamond / Platinum games to Irwindale Gym since that gym is longer and better suited for some of the more conditioned players.

Lebronze games may be moved to Memorial Park Court 2. Out of all the 3 gyms, it has more bleachers for the crowd.

I'll provide pictures, directions and easy instructions on how to get to the gym since I'll be at both locations on Wednesday. I should have it up by Thursday so PPPPLEASEEEEE make your schedule requests now so that we can finalize the schedule by Thursday evening.

Some of you guys still aren't fully paid. We need full payment by Friday. This is a new gym and they are having us pay ahead of time. We need your league fees so that we can pay for the gyms.

Thank You

IRWINDALE GYM
11.14.09

SCHEDULE
There was a mix-up with the schedule for Memorial Park. We actually don't start there at our new location until next Sunday, 11/21 not 11/15.

We will be at Irwindale Gym this week from 3 p.m.  - 9 p.m.  We didn't get a set schedule until Friday so schedule will be final as of Saturday for this week.

COMPLAINTS
I hope everyone understands that when we try to do the schedule, we cater to the teams who have priority first. Once we cater to the priority teams, we give teams with double-headers the next priority. A lot of people complain about scheduling and it's been the #1 headache.

...but when emergencies happen and suddenly your guys take a last minute trip to Vegas, or when emergencies happen and suddenly you can't play in the morning and you need to have your team play at night... I just hope you remember those favors because in every other league, you'd get a forfeit. This season, I've actually e-mailed teams regarding their schedule changes and we have had ZERO FORFEITS up to Week 6. That's my biggest goal this season, to have ZERO FORFEITS in Season 14.

Thanks
Buckets 2-time Champion Walter Tamidles isn't throwing up two fingers for his 2 Championships. What he could be saying is 'Peace-Out' to Trinicousins should Dipset beat Trinicousins to give them their second loss of the season. Game time at 3 p.m.
