WEEK 8
Preseason Week 1 Week 2 Week 3 Week 4 Week 5 Week 6 Week 7 Week 8 Week 8 EXTRA PLAYOFFS ALL STAR WEEKEND

WELCOME TO OUR 7th Season

The "History in the Sketching" project was thought of October 3rd 2007. The project is in development to create awareness of current and past events that have impacted our history. Awareness that will be represented through the medium of art. Such events as "Katrina","911", "Sex trafficking", and "Magic Johnson's Aids Announcement".

While creating awareness it is also developing an art book with all these stunning representations of history. An art book that will be on pre-sale by week 7 of the Superstar Basketball League (Rivalry week). Proceeds will be donated to charities and non-profit organizations that will help our communities.

This artbook will be sick, and will feature Superstar Basketball's very own Justin Reyes. Like Superstar Basketball, which helps bring communities together from the love of basketball, community and just plain good times, the "History in the Sketching" project will do that by helping our communities prosper and by creating a new medium in which people can be aware of what's going on in their societies and their world.

Last Season starts on April 20.

$320 + 280 = $600

Returning Teams:
$340 + 280 = $620

New Teams:
$380 + 280 = $660

Recaps. Will be completed as of Friday night.

Sortable Stats. Will be updated as of Saturday morning. There is a hold up in the system. What's the holdup you ask...

Rule IIa. Roster Management
A team can only utilize a maximum of 12 roster spots. YOU CANNOT EXCHANGE A PLAYER FOR ANOTHER PLAYER.The system is designed so that a team can only have 12 slots. You cannot replace a player that has already played a game OTHERWISE their stats will carry over.

Elements moved up some players from Decepticons after the Ringer situation because half the team doesn't want to show up and they were trying to avoid a forfeit fee. Well they exceeded the 12 roster slots so, to make it easy for myself, their stats from the past 2 games will not carry over.

This is 1 team, 1 team out of 54 teams. One team will make that much of a difference and this is just the roster management portion. We are well after the deadline and teams are still trying to add players. Let's read the rules, ladies and gentlemen, let's read the rules.

As a reminder...

Registration for next season starts on March 21.
8th Season starts on April 20.

It will be Superstar Basketball's 8th and FINAL SEASON.

Yes, you read that right.

Superstar Basketball's 8th and FINAL SEASON.

The good news. Those that personally know me know that the last time I worked an 8-5 was November last year. I've been looking for another job since then and I'm blessed to have finally found one. I guess I did well specially after showing our website.

The bad news. Well, training starts in 3 weeks and by May 1, I should be working at headquarters - in San Diego. This is a big move for me but the job opportunity is something I can't pass on.

The ugly. For the past few weeks, I've delegated tasks and for some reason the job isn't getting done. When I went on a business trip weeks ago, I trusted people to take care of the previews but we all know how that turned out. Last weekend, same thing and you saw what happened. What's the point of posting game previews after the game started. Duh! I appointed someone to work on the website and look what happens, the score gets switched around (Relics - Money Inc, Team Kellz - High Five). Game logs... same thing, should have been done on Monday afternoon but (no name mentioned) didn't get it done so I should have the game logs up by Tuesday night.

Sorry folks but it seems like every time I ask someone else to get the job done, it gets done halfway. Word actually leaked around on Saturday that I got a new job and friends have asked for me to appoint a new Commish to keep the league running.  I've been assigning simple tasks these past few weeks the job isn't getting done the right way.

I really want to retire Superstar Basketball on top of the game. From the website, stats, Superstar Radio, Superstar TV...I just want to leave the game on top. Those that know me know I'm on the comp all morning and all night. My new job will probably consume over 40 hours of my time so there really isn't a point for me to commute back and forth from Daygo. Financially, we all know how hard it is to collect fees from teams so why bother with that?

There's still 1 more season left so there's really no point in dishing out the ugly side. The Last Season... starts on April 20 and registration begins on March 21. I'd like to thank everyone who contributed to Superstar Basketball, and every player for making Superstar Basketball part of their Sunday. It was a hard for me to let go of something I created but these opportunities don't come along very often.

Thank You,
Hanz Jimenez

I get dozens of e-mails, texts, questions, and so I'd like to share a couple of the more popular ones. Since everyone's asking the same question, I might as well address it here.

1. Dear Commish,
I like the Player of the Week award and let me tell you, I'm at the gym doin work, son. I'm wondering how you get that and what reward do you get. It would be nice if you got the Player of the Week some new kicks. Hahaha. Just kidding, do your thing boy, hollah.

Player of the Week is usually decided by points, assists, steals, stats...
For the past 7 seasons, NO ONE has ever won it from a losing team. Bottom line is, you gotta win in order to be considered as a Player of the Week.

There's other factors that come into play when a player is chosen over another player when both have similar stats. Perfect example was last week when 626'ers forward Dennis Baker won the award over Jack Moore and Ken Ngarayawongse. Jack Moore posted stats against a depleted Underdawgs squad that had reigning MVP Evan Namkung missing. Ken got his points against a non-Playoff team while Dennis was the reason why 626'ers defeated a Playoff team.

Player of the Week players automatically earn a spot at the All Star Game.

2. Yo Commish,
My team sucks. How come we have to play a top team in the division? Can u match us up against a team that we can beat that is competitive. Thanks.

As long as the teams are in the same division, it's practically fair game. There are different factors that come into play when it comes to scheduling games.
Teams have preferences of what time they want to play and we have to take that into account otherwise the game would be a forfeit. When teams have to play one another, the priority will go to the team that paid first. Sometimes there are games scheduled when players want to play against certain teams and usually those are scheduled on Rivalry Weekend. We try to even out the schedule by having teams play 4 top teams, 4 low teams or just 8 games against teams that are in the middle of the pack.

With more teams on the horizon, the likelihood of teams having the same record is more than likely. When it comes down to it, a team that beats a top ranked team will own a tie-breaker.

3. Aye Hanz,
I have like 38 steals and I averaged 6.3 spg. Now there's that dude who had a total of 40 steals, and he averaged 5.0 spg. How come he gets recognized as the Steals leader when I should be the best defensive player...of all time...?

Since Season 1, we've recognized the player that logged the most in a certain category over a player who averaged the most. There's really no way for us to reward perfect attendance and at the same time you should be helping your team win games anyway. The way I see it, if you play 8 games, you'll log more stats over someone who's not there... so in a way, your attendance is rewarded.
