The "History in the Sketching" project was
thought of October 3rd 2007. The project is
in development to create awareness of
current and past events
that have impacted our history. Awareness
that will be represented through the medium
of art. Such events as "Katrina","911", "Sex
trafficking", and "Magic Johnson's Aids
Announcement".
While creating awareness it is also
developing an art book with all these
stunning representations of history. An art
book that will be on pre-sale by week 7 of
the Superstar Basketball League (Rivalry
week). Proceeds will be donated to charities
and non-profit organizations that will help
our communities.
This artbook will be sick, and will feature
Superstar Basketball's very own Justin
Reyes. Like Superstar Basketball, which
helps bring communities together from the
love of basketball, community and just plain
good times, the "History in the Sketching"
project will do that by helping our
communities prosper and by creating a new
medium in which people can be aware of
what's going on in their societies and their
world.

COMMISH
I get
dozens of e-mails, texts, questions, and so I'd
like to share a couple of the more popular ones.
Since everyone's asking the same question, I
might as well address it here.
1. Dear
Commish,
I like the Player of the Week award and let me
tell you, I'm at the gym doin work, son. I'm
wondering how you get that and what reward do
you get. It would be nice if you got the Player
of the Week some new kicks. Hahaha. Just
kidding, do your thing boy, hollah.
Player of the Week is usually decided by
points, assists, steals, stats...
For the past 7 seasons, NO ONE has ever won it
from a losing team. Bottom line is, you gotta
win in order to be considered as a Player of the
Week.
There's other factors that come into play when a
player is chosen over another player when both
have similar stats. Perfect example was last
week when 626'ers forward Dennis Baker won the
award over Jack Moore and Ken Ngarayawongse.Jack Moore posted stats against a
depleted Underdawgs squad that had reigning MVP
Evan Namkung missing. Ken got his points against
a non-Playoff team while Dennis was the reason
why 626'ers defeated a Playoff team.
Player of the Week players automatically earn a
spot at the All Star Game.
2. Yo Commish,
My team sucks. How come we have to play a top
team in the division? Can u match us up against
a team that we can beat that is
competitive. Thanks.
As long as the teams are in
the same division, it's practically fair game.
There are different factors that come into play
when it comes to scheduling games.
Teams have preferences of what time they want to
play and we have to take that into account
otherwise the game would be a forfeit. When
teams have to play one another, the priority
will go to the team that paid first. Sometimes
there are games scheduled when players want to
play against certain teams and usually those are
scheduled on Rivalry Weekend. We try to even out
the schedule by having teams play 4 top teams, 4
low teams or just 8 games against teams that are
in the middle of the pack.
With more teams on the horizon, the likelihood
of teams having the same record is more than
likely. When it comes down to it, a team that
beats a top ranked team will own a tie-breaker.
3. Aye Hanz,
I have like 38 steals and I averaged 6.3 spg.
Now there's that dude who had a total of 40
steals, and he averaged 5.0 spg. How come he
gets recognized as the Steals leader when I
should be the best defensive player...of all
time...?
Since Season 1, we've
recognized the player that logged the most in a
certain category over a player who averaged the
most. There's really no way for us to reward
perfect attendance and at the same time you
should be helping your team win games anyway.
The way I see it, if you play 8 games, you'll
log more stats over someone who's not there...
so in a way, your attendance is rewarded.

Rivalry
weekend. It was great weekend yesterday - great
games, very competitive, no "ringers" and the
gym was lively.
Playoffs are around the corner and if your team
hasn't fully paid, your team won't be scheduled
anymore games. We're at the point where we are
halfway through the season. Please be
responsible in paying your fees. The league
takes a lot of work and if you think all we do
is schedule games and crack jokes on MySpace
then I don't know what to say.
From
taking stats, game logs, writing, taking
pictures, adding to the website, editing
Superstar Radio, scheduling games...we TRY to
give you the best basketball experience
possible. We have to pay for gyms so if your
team hasn't fully paid, your team won't be
scheduled anymore games.
Lastly,
thanks to the players who were willing to be our
'guinea pigs' yesterday. A special thanks to
Nikki Aguila, our new on-air personality for
collaborating with Elemental Productions on our
new feature.
You'll
see it here on Thursday.

All Game Previews
have been updated. My two assistants miss a
couple of games but it's been updated.
As you all know,
it's standard procedure we delay game logs
anytime a team breaks the rules. If a team gets
into an altercation, we delay the game logs. If
a team adds a ringer, we delay the game logs.
Why do we delay it, because we have to pay all
our attention on that altercation/situation and
eventually the whole league pays for it.
Last week it was Money Inc that added a player
(in a game before Still Fly) that wasn't in
their original roster. A loss was handed to the
team after it was discovered Ninja W.
wasn't on the roster.
This week,
Elements are on blast. The sad thing is, I
explained the same exactly thing on February 26.
Are people reading? What's the point of having
this website if teams aren't going to read the
content. Ironically, players know their stats
but they don't know the rules. Was this not big
enough?
- LAST DAY
TO ADD PLAYER (REVISED
to end of 2nd game)
Here's the
beauty of me playing in the league. Last week,
USUCK played against Elements so I know exactly
who I played against. These two late additions
lit us up for a combined 8 three-pointers,
"Chris Ayo" and "Dorrell".
A week later,
I'm doing stats for Elements in their game
against TROY so I check ID on "Paul" who
is listed on the roster but I don't recognize
him but he presents it to me. Check, I feel
moted but I'm doing my job. The game starts and
you would think they'd say something about their
two other players and so I start to think...
"...these two guards aren't the same players
that lit me up from downtown last week. There
was a big guy and a skinny guy but these guards
are scoring are nothing like them."
After doing some
research, I figure out these two players aren't
the same players from last week. To add fuel to
the fire one of them turns out to be
Andrew Gulipan.
May 15, 2007
Andrew Gulipan,
Foundation
–
Suspended
permanently from all
Superstar Basketball League events.
It's one thing
to add ringers, it's another to add players that
are suspended from the League. I know our rules
are stricter than any other league in the area
but what more do you expect. In 7 seasons, we've
grown this much and there hasn't been a fight.
What happened in May 2007 was Andrew charging
another player with a forearm and after the
suspensions were handed out, it was determined
that he would be suspended permanently. There
was talk about reinstatement but that would be
after a whole year.
It hasn't been a
full year yet and this guy tries to hide under
someone else's name. Andrew Gulipan isn't
"Chris Ayo" or "Dorell". Did this make it
worse for him to come back? Damn right it did.
How will Elements be punished? The sad part is,
I know for a fact their GMs aren't the ones
doing the roster moves. The irony in this is the
new rule about having a Diamond Division All
Star (CRISTIAN GOPEZ) not being allowed to play
in your Gold Division team. Elements moved up to
Platinum just so they can play with Gopez. With
Gopez making those roster moves, did Elements
sacrifice that much just for that 1 guy?
