WEEK 6
Preseason Week 1 Week 2 Week 3 Week 4 Week 5 Week 6 Week 7 Week 8 Week 8 EXTRA PLAYOFFS ALL STAR WEEKEND

WELCOME TO OUR 7th Season

The "History in the Sketching" project was thought of October 3rd 2007. The project is in development to create awareness of current and past events that have impacted our history. Awareness that will be represented through the medium of art. Such events as "Katrina","911", "Sex trafficking", and "Magic Johnson's Aids Announcement".

While creating awareness it is also developing an art book with all these stunning representations of history. An art book that will be on pre-sale by week 7 of the Superstar Basketball League (Rivalry week). Proceeds will be donated to charities and non-profit organizations that will help our communities.

This artbook will be sick, and will feature Superstar Basketball's very own Justin Reyes. Like Superstar Basketball, which helps bring communities together from the love of basketball, community and just plain good times, the "History in the Sketching" project will do that by helping our communities prosper and by creating a new medium in which people can be aware of what's going on in their societies and their world.

All Game Previews have been updated. My two assistants miss a couple of games but it's been updated.

As you all know, it's standard procedure we delay game logs anytime a team breaks the rules. If a team gets into an altercation, we delay the game logs. If a team adds a ringer, we delay the game logs. Why do we delay it, because we have to pay all our attention on that altercation/situation and eventually the whole league pays for it.

Last week it was Money Inc that added a player (in a game before Still Fly) that wasn't in their original roster. A loss was handed to the team after it was discovered Ninja W. wasn't on the roster.

This week, Elements are on blast. The sad thing is, I explained the same exactly thing on February 26. Are people reading? What's the point of having this website if teams aren't going to read the content. Ironically, players know their stats but they don't know the rules. Was this not big enough?

- LAST DAY TO ADD PLAYER
(REVISED to end of 2nd game)

Here's the beauty of me playing in the league. Last week, USUCK played against Elements so I know exactly who I played against. These two late additions lit us up for a combined 8 three-pointers, "Chris Ayo" and "Dorrell".

A week later, I'm doing stats for Elements in their game against TROY so I check ID on "Paul" who is listed on the roster but I don't recognize him but he presents it to me. Check, I feel moted but I'm doing my job. The game starts and you would think they'd say something about their two other players and so I start to think... "...these two guards aren't the same players that lit me up from downtown last week. There was a big guy and a skinny guy but these guards are scoring are nothing like them."

After doing some research, I figure out these two players aren't the same players from last week. To add fuel to the fire one of them turns out to be Andrew Gulipan.

May 15, 2007
Andrew Gulipan
, Foundation Suspended permanently from all Superstar Basketball League events.

It's one thing to add ringers, it's another to add players that are suspended from the League. I know our rules are stricter than any other league in the area but what more do you expect. In 7 seasons, we've grown this much and there hasn't been a fight. What happened in May 2007 was Andrew charging another player with a forearm and after the suspensions were handed out, it was determined that he would be suspended permanently. There was talk about reinstatement but that would be after a whole year.

It hasn't been a full year yet and this guy tries to hide under someone else's name. Andrew Gulipan isn't "Chris Ayo" or "Dorell". Did this make it worse for him to come back? Damn right it did. How will Elements be punished? The sad part is, I know for a fact their GMs aren't the ones doing the roster moves. The irony in this is the new rule about having a Diamond Division All Star (CRISTIAN GOPEZ) not being allowed to play in your Gold Division team. Elements moved up to Platinum just so they can play with Gopez. With Gopez making those roster moves, did Elements sacrifice that much just for that 1 guy?

FROM HERE ON OUT, PLAYERS CAN ONLY CHECK IN TO THE GAME WITH A PHOTO ID. NO PHOTO ID, MEANS YOU CANNOT PLAY.

You Got Some Explaining To Do, Mister

I just want to clear up some roster add-ons in order to avoid any rumors. A lot of new names are showing up but here's the explanation.

So if you look at the right side of this page it says the following:

- LAST DAY TO ADD PLAYER
(REVISED to end of 2nd game)

I understand how tough scheduling has been for ALL of us and even when teams added players at the beginning of their 3rd game, we had to be lenient and let that go.

Some new names are showing up for the first time but keep in mind that these teams haven't played 2 games.

Black Out (added players at the end of their 2nd game)
Foundation (only  played 2 games, last game was a forfeit against Black Out, added players before 3rd game played.)
Elements (only played 2 games, added players before 3rd game)
Assassins, Run N Gun (e-mailed rosters 3 weeks ago. Names weren't on game logs but were in an e-mail sent several weeks back. e-mail was on file)
Dead End (myspace messaged several names from a couple weeks back)
Underdawgs (replaced player before 3rd game played)

There were several ways to add players on your roster.
1. Write their names on the stat sheet
2. E-mail a roster before the deadline
3. MySpace message the Superstar MySpace page

There's only 1 team that can still add players: Phenoms.

You'll probably see some more teams moving players between their affiliate teams. I went ahead and revised the Teams page so that its current.
LAST DAY TO MOVE PLAYERS BETWEEN AFFILIATE TEAMS
(REVISED to end of 4th game)

Zebras. Lastly, YOU KNOW how refs are. Refs will be refs, blah blah blah. I am NOT a referee. I go through the same things you guys go through in a game and there's nothing more I hate than playing against a team that gets all the calls. Let me rephrase that... actually it is the same players that get fouls called for them because they know how to draw fouls.

I hear it all the time. "The refs favor their team." "Ya'll pay extra ref fees, or what?" "Yo dawg, are you best friends w/ the refs?"
Thing is, all you have to do is look at free throw attempts to see which players are getting the most trips to the line. You already know The Kid likes to do his pump fakes to get you in the air so that you end up fouling him. You already know Kenneth Ubom, OJ Yayboe are gonna drive in and force the refs to make a call. All I gotta say is play smarter and make them shoot from outside instead of letting them drive in because that's how they draw their fouls. Know your opponents, play smart, and stop the whine. Any more concerns, please talk to Reggie Ramirez (pictured on the right) and he'll give you a free consultation on how to play without fouling.

Thanks.

Commentary for Standings are done.

With so many schedule changes and with the schedule finalized on Friday, it doesn't make sense to finish the commentary until Friday night / Saturday morning. Match ups are being moved around and we've been lenient with game times for the early part of the season. Now that we're back at Walnut Rec, we're limiting schedule requests because match-ups are set up accordingly.

There's a lot of factors that come in so please comply with the schedule.

Home Sweet Home. We're back at Walnut Gymnasium/Walnut Rec, however you want to call it. If you don't know where Walnut Rec is at, the address is:

21303 La Puente Rd.
Walnut, CA 91789

MAPQUEST

SHAMELESS PLUG
We have cut off shirts on SALE.
Shirts are limited!! $12 per shirt.

Week 4 / Week 5. Usually that's when games are competitive and you'll see a few hard fouls here and there. Let me reiterate, THERE IS ZERO TOLERANCE FOR FIGHTING. You are not only representing yourself but your team, your community and OUR league. It hasn't been a problem yet, but I'm doing my part in preventing it from ever happening.

If you're going to bad-mouth officials or our staff, I have no problem suspending you for a whole season. If you're suspended, you are not allowed to participate at our events as a player or as a fan.

Finally back at the Rec!!!

Nusantara said it best, "These last few weeks seemed like the Lakers road trip."

We will still have our night games at ASC but our morning hours are from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. at Walnut Rec. We are adding hours to our Walnut on Brea Canyon gym but it won't be available until after March.

Speaking of home... welcome back Aries Inguito from the Philippines. I have to apologize for mocking him on Superstar Radio but it's all in good fun. I'm the biggest F.O.B. there is so take my imitation of him lightly.

There's a lot of hype surrounding this year's NBA Playoffs. I say we name our upcoming season, "Where Superstars Happens."

(For example, if the score is 59-69, the clock still runs)

- Only players on the court can call time-out. However, a GM or Coach on the bench can call time-out.

- Teams get 2 time-outs per half.
Time-outs do not carry over from one half to another.
