Halfway through the season and defending
Champions Semi Pro Inc has dominated the
headlines.
First
half of the season has seen the Gold
Division get bigger, Superstar San
Diego, and trades have been rampant the
last two weeks. |

LOST VEGAS
Seems like all the regulars were missing. Was Vegas really all that last
week?
Well, game logs were up early on Monday and I'm cranking out all the
recaps by
tonight. I guess that's my way of saying thanks. lol.
TENTATIVE SCHEDULE
I'm waiting for ASC's schedule this weekend before I post up tentative
schedules.
A lot of teams are playing double-headers but expect most of the Diamond
teams
to be at Anaheim this week.
CONTINUED UPDATES
Next on the list is the Records page and the All Star page.
I just got done with the
Championship page
last weekend.
It's taking longer than expected because they layout is cleaner and I'm
making
it easier for myself to update in the future. It's kinda like the time
when NBA 2K8
re-designed their engine.... the graphics looked better but it took
awhile.

WHAT WE LEARNED
8.15.08 |
TRADES.
We've had this feature added 3 seasons ago but the player movement we've
seen in the last 2-3 weeks mimics that of the NBA. We never thought it
would
take off like this and all it took was for 1 player to make a change and
everyone
followed.
WHY DID YOU ADD THE TRADE FEATURE TO THE
LEAGUE?
In the past, players have been known to drop out of teams halfway through
the season. Either players stop showing up or via verse where GMs don't
tell
their players to show up. Last day to add players is
3rd game
(previously 2nd)
and that meant the team wasted a roster spot and have no player to show
for.
We've made it easier for GMs to manage their teams but some players are
abusing
the trade feature. It's unfortunate for the GMs to have players leave the
team but
look on the bright side. Would you rather have an unhappy player playing
for you?
Would you rather have the player leave and you get nothing in return? By
calling
it a trade, you get your disgruntled player out of your team, and you get
to add
a player to your team (as long as 12 roster spots aren't consumed).
Let's face it. We aren't NBA players. You can't trade a player for the
same value
and there hasn't been one player traded to another team for another
player.
Most of the time, players just leave their old team and show up for new
teams.
It's more for the players if you think about it. From a player's
standpoint, they're
thinking is... "I don't like my team, I'm just going to trade teams." We
haven't seen
GM's trade players so this is more of a player feature.
Personally, I think it's unfair for players to leave their team without
telling them
why they're leaving. When I left Phenoms last season, I did tell my GM
why I was
leaving and it worked out for both sides. I got more playing time and
uh.. Phenoms
almost made the Playoffs.
WHAT
HAPPENS NEXT SEASON?
The trade feature is one of the most exciting features in the 1st half of
the season.
There are pros and cons and a lot of the issues have been addressed to
me.
The activity was never this high as far as player movement goes and we're
still
working out the kinks. Here are some of the new rules we're adding in
regards
to trades.
- PLAYERS who leave their current team must fill out an EXIT
INTERVIEW form
for the current team. Yes, that's right, fill out an EXIT INTERVIEW
FORM for your
old team. If this isn't filled out properly, you cannot play for
your new team. I've
heard of instances where players don't even return GMs phone calls
to explain
to them why they're leaving the team (NO NAMES MENTIONED). Imagine
this...
before the season started, you tried desperately to play for that
team. You
promise them you're dedicated and you'll change the franchise
around. You
leave the team after they paid for your fees and you don't have the
decency to
return their phone call? Before you try that again (NO NAMES
MENTIONED), you
better fill out this Exit Interview from your former team.
- 1 WEEK WAITING PERIOD for players to play from one team to
another.
Perfect example is Terrence Martin who played for Vestige
last Sunday.
Under this new rule, he would have to wait until the following week
to play with
his new team. It was unfair for Bank to have to play against Money
Inc not
knowing Terrence Martin was going to show up against them. It
was unfair for
Team Splash to play against Stunners with Derek DeVan
showing up out of
nowhere.
DURRTY DOZEN.
As a reminder, teams
ONLY GET 12 ROSTER SPOTS.
YOU CANT CROSS
OUT NAMES AND ADD NEW NAMES. Those names are permanent on your
roster.
LA>SD, our traveling team that plays in the San Diego Division is capped
out.
The rule says 12 roster spots.
We had
6
players show up first week,
4
players shows up the following week
and we picked up two random guys at the gym. Those random guys are
stuck on our roster. Rodney Ching was injured in our first game
and we can't
just cross him out and add a new name. That's what 12 roster spots are
for.
If you're out of roster spots, well it will make you think twice in the
future about
adding the right players to your team.
What's funny is those two random guys checked in and are listed as
numbers
with no names. Now you tell me... am I really going to show up in San
Diego with
two of our real players to replace those two random players and break my
own rules? I've gotten techs but breaking my own rules,
NEVER.

TIRADE OF TRADES
8.11.08 |
TRADES EXPLAINED
DEADLINE TO TRADE PLAYERS IS THE TEAM'S 4TH GAME.
A couple of players are dropping out of their former teams and joining
new teams.
Off-season acquisitions aren't consider trades in our league. For
example,
Uzoma Kalu played for Remix last season but he plays for Money Inc
this
season. In our league, that's not considered a trade. He just plays for a
different team now.
What is considered a trade is when players play for a new team AFTER the
season has already started. Most of the time, GMs are never in discussion
and
players simply show up to a new team.
This past weekend, two players (Terrance Martin and Derek DeVan)
played
for new teams after playing for their former teams. There was nothing in
the
rule book that prevented them from joining another team so their move was
completely valid.
STUNNED
#1 Stunners picked up Derek DeVan from
Team Play. DeVan was on record
saying, "I don't feel like I can contribute to their team, I'll play for
the
Pagdilaos." Team Play will get an extra week to pick up a new player.
Deadline to add a player to the roster to
replace DeVan is this
coming Sunday, 8/16/08.
REMIX
Because Jason Fielder left and started
his own team, Remix replaced the roster
spot with Vestige's former player, Shadon Knight.
FRESH
PRINCE
After losing against B-Junkies, Terrence
Martin demanded to be
traded to a new team and saw comfort in GM of the Year, Andrew
Persaud. His former team Vestige is 1-3 and cannot add any more
players.
Money Inc gained the rights of Terence Martin. The Kressa
Brothers have not
played for Money Inc this season and the team is a week behind.
What this means
is that Vestige will have an extra week to add a player and no more
players can
be added to the Money Inc roster.
VESTIGE
Shadon Knight left Vestige and should
have had a trade. Because
they only have 1 roster spot, they are ONLY allowed 1 more player.
Under II. A.
THAT SAME TRADE
Because THAT SAME TEAM got nothing for losing Adrian Eddington,
they have
an extension to add a player.
Deadline to add a player to the roster to
replace Adrian is this coming Sunday, 8/16/08.
REPLACING
PLAYERS
You cannot DELETE players and replace them with
new ones. Under II. A.
A Team can utilize a maximum of
12 roster spots.
If a player has played, that means they consumed
a roster spot and are there
for the rest of the season. Teams cannot cross out their names and
have a
new player show up and play.
PENDING
TRADES
SO CAL BALLIN'
Carl
Hardin has requested for a trade from So Cal
Ballers to Wildcats. "I am about
to join the prodigy program helping teach their kids is it possible
for me to play with
them instead of So Cal Ballers since they havent played three games
yet.
The trade will be approved. In return, So Cal Ballers has an
extension to add a
player.
Deadline to add a player to the roster to
replace Carl Hardin is this
coming Sunday, 8/16/08.
