Several players are playing for new
teams this season. Some have been traded
to other teams while other players are
playing for a lower division.
Will their addition deliver a
Championship?

WHAT WE LEARNED
8.15.08 |
TRADES.
We've had this feature added 3 seasons ago but the player movement we've
seen in the last 2-3 weeks mimics that of the NBA. We never thought it
would
take off like this and all it took was for 1 player to make a change and
everyone
followed.
WHY DID YOU ADD THE TRADE FEATURE TO THE
LEAGUE?
In the past, players have been known to drop out of teams halfway through
the season. Either players stop showing up or via verse where GMs don't
tell
their players to show up. Last day to add players is
3rd game
(previously 2nd)
and that meant the team wasted a roster spot and have no player to show
for.
We've made it easier for GMs to manage their teams but some players are
abusing
the trade feature. It's unfortunate for the GMs to have players leave the
team but
look on the bright side. Would you rather have an unhappy player playing
for you?
Would you rather have the player leave and you get nothing in return? By
calling
it a trade, you get your disgruntled player out of your team, and you get
to add
a player to your team (as long as 12 roster spots aren't consumed).
Let's face it. We aren't NBA players. You can't trade a player for the
same value
and there hasn't been one player traded to another team for another
player.
Most of the time, players just leave their old team and show up for new
teams.
It's more for the players if you think about it. From a player's
standpoint, they're
thinking is... "I don't like my team, I'm just going to trade teams." We
haven't seen
GM's trade players so this is more of a player feature.
Personally, I think it's unfair for players to leave their team without
telling them
why they're leaving. When I left Phenoms last season, I did tell my GM
why I was
leaving and it worked out for both sides. I got more playing time and
uh.. Phenoms
almost made the Playoffs.
WHAT
HAPPENS NEXT SEASON?
The trade feature is one of the most exciting features in the 1st half of
the season.
There are pros and cons and a lot of the issues have been addressed to
me.
The activity was never this high as far as player movement goes and we're
still
working out the kinks. Here are some of the new rules we're adding in
regards
to trades.
- PLAYERS who leave their current team must fill out an EXIT
INTERVIEW form
for the current team. Yes, that's right, fill out an EXIT INTERVIEW
FORM for your
old team. If this isn't filled out properly, you cannot play for
your new team. I've
heard of instances where players don't even return GMs phone calls
to explain
to them why they're leaving the team (NO NAMES MENTIONED). Imagine
this...
before the season started, you tried desperately to play for that
team. You
promise them you're dedicated and you'll change the franchise
around. You
leave the team after they paid for your fees and you don't have the
decency to
return their phone call? Before you try that again (NO NAMES
MENTIONED), you
better fill out this Exit Interview from your former team.
- 1 WEEK WAITING PERIOD for players to play from one team to
another.
Perfect example is Terrence Martin who played for Vestige
last Sunday.
Under this new rule, he would have to wait until the following week
to play with
his new team. It was unfair for Bank to have to play against Money
Inc not
knowing Terrence Martin was going to show up against them. It
was unfair for
Team Splash to play against Stunners with Derek DeVan
showing up out of
nowhere.
DURRTY DOZEN.
As a reminder, teams
ONLY GET 12 ROSTER SPOTS.
YOU CANT CROSS
OUT NAMES AND ADD NEW NAMES. Those names are permanent on your
roster.
LA>SD, our traveling team that plays in the San Diego Division is capped
out.
The rule says 12 roster spots.
We had
6
players show up first week,
4
players shows up the following week
and we picked up two random guys at the gym. Those random guys are
stuck on our roster. Rodney Ching was injured in our first game
and we can't
just cross him out and add a new name. That's what 12 roster spots are
for.
If you're out of roster spots, well it will make you think twice in the
future about
adding the right players to your team.
What's funny is those two random guys checked in and are listed as
numbers
with no names. Now you tell me... am I really going to show up in San
Diego with
two of our real players to replace those two random players and break my
own rules? I've gotten techs but breaking my own rules,
NEVER.

TIRADE OF TRADES
8.11.08 |
TRADES EXPLAINED
DEADLINE TO TRADE PLAYERS IS THE TEAM'S 4TH GAME.
A couple of players are dropping out of their former teams and joining
new teams.
Off-season acquisitions aren't consider trades in our league. For
example,
Uzoma Kalu played for Remix last season but he plays for Money Inc
this
season. In our league, that's not considered a trade. He just plays for a
different team now.
What is considered a trade is when players play for a new team AFTER the
season has already started. Most of the time, GMs are never in discussion
and
players simply show up to a new team.
This past weekend, two players (Terrance Martin and Derek DeVan)
played
for new teams after playing for their former teams. There was nothing in
the
rule book that prevented them from joining another team so their move was
completely valid.
STUNNED
#1 Stunners picked up Derek DeVan from
Team Play. DeVan was on record
saying, "I don't feel like I can contribute to their team, I'll play for
the
Pagdilaos." Team Play will get an extra week to pick up a new player.
Deadline to add a player to the roster to
replace DeVan is this
coming Sunday, 8/16/08.
REMIX
Because Jason Fielder left and started
his own team, Remix replaced the roster
spot with Vestige's former player, Shadon Knight.
FRESH
PRINCE
After losing against B-Junkies, Terrence
Martin demanded to be
traded to a new team and saw comfort in GM of the Year, Andrew
Persaud. His former team Vestige is 1-3 and cannot add any more
players.
Money Inc gained the rights of Terence Martin. The Kressa
Brothers have not
played for Money Inc this season and the team is a week behind.
What this means
is that Vestige will have an extra week to add a player and no more
players can
be added to the Money Inc roster.
VESTIGE
Shadon Knight left Vestige and should
have had a trade. Because
they only have 1 roster spot, they are ONLY allowed 1 more player.
Under II. A.
THAT SAME TRADE
Because THAT SAME TEAM got nothing for losing Adrian Eddington,
they have
an extension to add a player.
Deadline to add a player to the roster to
replace Adrian is this coming Sunday, 8/16/08.
REPLACING
PLAYERS
You cannot DELETE players and replace them with
new ones. Under II. A.
A Team can utilize a maximum of
12 roster spots.
If a player has played, that means they consumed
a roster spot and are there
for the rest of the season. Teams cannot cross out their names and
have a
new player show up and play.
PENDING
TRADES
SO CAL BALLIN'
Carl
Hardin has requested for a trade from So Cal
Ballers to Wildcats. "I am about
to join the prodigy program helping teach their kids is it possible
for me to play with
them instead of So Cal Ballers since they havent played three games
yet.
The trade will be approved. In return, So Cal Ballers has an
extension to add a
player.
Deadline to add a player to the roster to
replace Carl Hardin is this
coming Sunday, 8/16/08.

NEW LAYOUT
8.10.08 |
NEW LAYOUT
The new layout dropped right before the Olympics started. Last Year, I
had
the Year 2 layout uploaded on 7.7.7, this year it was 8.8.8. Every
section is
being updated. I should have MVP and Championship section updated
by
next week.
WEBSITE DELAYS
When altercations happen, when balls get stolen, WE DELAY
UPDATES ON THE
WEBSITE. EVERYONE SUFFERS. Why do we do this? So people don't act
up.
We're proud at the fact that after 9 seasons, 9 seasons... we
haven't had
a fist fight go down in any of our gyms. Our rules are working, our
teams are
well behaved, and if the slightest altercation takes place, we have
to over-react.
DO YOUR PART, WE DO OURS.
ON THE BRIGHT SIDE
If you're there all day watching games like we are, you'll know
how entertaining
and competitive the games are getting. You HAD to be there for Semi
Pro Inc vs.
Young Gunnaz. I'd like to thank both teams for competing out there
and giving us
a game to watch.

IM DROPPIN THE BALL ON THIS ONE
8.5.08 |
NO BALLS
There was a time when the league used to provide game balls for every
game.
That period of time lasted a good 2-3 weeks until the game ball was
stolen.
A new one was provided but a week later, that ball was gone.
Sadly, having your basketball stolen isn't a new thing. Unfortunately,
there
are people who can't afford to buy their own basketballs and have to
steal other
people's balls just so they have their own.
Stylin On You's basketball was stolen after the Semi Pro Inc vs. Young
Gunnaz
game. What's even more sad is... you trust people with your ball and yet
they
can't man up when the ball is missing. Listen... some people can't own up
to their
own balls, why even trust them with your basketball (no names mentioned)
NO STATS
Well, coincidentally, when Stylin On You's ball was stolen, uhh, the
uhh, folder
with everyone's game logs were stolen too.
I guess there's no stats up for Week 3.
Point is... you're used to seeing your stats. You're used to having your
stats
from your games. How would it feel to just have that taken away from
you??
It sucks doesn't it? When I find Stylin On You's
basketball, I guess that's when
the folder with everyone's stats will magically show up.
PEACE

Reminders
7.31.08 |
MORE REMINDERS
At our GM meeting, I stated this disclosure:
"For the first 2 weeks, the sortable stats are usually off. From the
names, to the
formulas, to teams still adding players, usually stats are off."
With that said, if you notice anything wrong, kindly e-mail me. Team Play
stats
average weren't being fed to the system. For example, Dedrick Bates
scored
26 points but his points per game showed 0 this morning. The problem's
fixed
and I had to re-do all the stats, and team stats, and sortable stats.
STATS-KEEPERS
It only takes one mess up to ruin things. The final score for Semi
Pro Inc vs.
Team 24 wasn't written down and that affected the writing, and the
stats!!
If you're going to work the table, work the table. If you're going to be
a groupie,
then go to the parking lot and be a groupie. (no names mentioned)
LAST DAY TO ADD PLAYERS
Remember, you have until the 3rd game to add players.
DO NOT EMAIL OR TEXT ME WITH ADDITIONAL NAMES AFTER YOUR 3RD GAME.
Your e-mail will be disregarded.
2ND YEAR BANQUET
The big day is tomorrow. I have to apologize to both Andrew
Persaud and
Ernest Pablo. Both are the front-runners for GM of the Season
award. Both have
been constantly lobbying for the award and both really, really deserve
it.
I accidentally told both of you guys that you guys won. You guys are
really
convincing, and maybe I got caught up in the moment. Truth is, I DONT
KNOW
WHO THE WINNER IS. I guess we'll find out tomorrow night.
THANK YOU.
