END OF
THE SEASON AWARDS - SAN DIEGO DIVISION
MVP, Defensive Player, and GM of the Season go to
‘Daygo’s Finest’ Finest walked into the gym with the nicest jerseys, largest crowd, and a video camera to tape their games. Right from the get go, everyone knew Finest was a team that was serious when it came to basketball. They ended the season with a 4 game winning streak, holding on to the best record in the league at 6-2. GM Nate Bautista walks away as the first ever GM of the Season award for Superstar San Diego. He put together both a professional and talented team with the MVP and Defensive Player of the Season also on his team. GM Hanz Jimenez was the runner-up for GM of the Season, bringing his team down from LA to play Saturdays while also running Superstar LA on Sundays. He did a great job on getting enough players there, and its impressive that he can get at least 5 players to show up for each game. Some SD teams can’t even do that. A close battle between The Fleet’s own Jeremy Hunt and Finest’s Kenny Lee came down to the wire but Lee would come out on top. He played like an MVP all season, showing up for all 8 games while securing the best record for his team with also impressive numbers. He averaged 24.1 ppg(2nd), hit 40 threes (1st), and made 25-31 free throws(1st FTM). In a notable game against his MVP competition Jeremy Hunt, he scored 39 points and hit on a league high 9 threes. Jeremy Hunt of the The Fleet would be awarded the Rookie of the Season award. Hunt led the league in scoring averaging 31.2 points a game. He also grabbed 8.8 boards a game and dished out 2 assists a contest. He was also in the Top 3 in three point field goals a game. Along with the Rookie award, he also claimed the Fantasy Player of the Season award. In week 3, Hunt ended up scoring a league high 48 points while hitting on 9 threes, despite losing by 3 points to LA > SD. The Defensive Player of the Season award was awarded to Center Tali McLemore of Finest. Even though he is now out for the season, he was a force in the paint ranking 1st in blocked shots with 2.2 rejections a game. He also averaged 2 steals, 10 boards, and 11.4 points a game. Lemme Sheck’s Justin Omalev was not far behind for the Defensive Player award averaging a league high 3.1 steals a game.
