END OF
THE SEASON AWARDS - GOLD DIVISION
September 21, 2008
JR Gonzalez wins MVP award

Rookie JR Gonzalez
led the division in scoring and 3-pointers this
season. The sharp-shooter averaged 34.9 ppg and
connected for a league-high 54 three-pointers. He led
Them Guys to the Playoffs with a 5-3 record with the
last game being a triple OT clincher on the last week of
the season. JR's scoring average was 52 percent of his
team's scoring average. 626'ers Kevin Valmonte
was a close runner-up along with Allen Brown, the
Stylin On You guard.
After
making a trip to the Finals last season, Stylin On You
GM Terence Morales proved the trip was no fluke
leading Stylin On You to a 6-2 record. The Stylin On You
GM added key pieces to the team in the off-season and
has already committed to playing in Platinum Division
next season. After a 0-3 start, Victor Ng led his
team to 5 wins straight as Silent But Deadly finished
with a 5-3 record. 626'ers GM Rodney Ching
improved his team from a 4-4 record to a 6-2 record this
season. The team ranks #1 and had one of the toughest
schedule this season.
Defensive
Player of the Season award was awarded to
rookie Marselis Irving of Team Kellz. The
rookie averaged 10.8 rpg (ranked 3rd) and
posted totals of 9 steals and 8 blocks. He
was also a candidate for Rookie of the
season averaging 19.5 ppg and 11
three-pointers in his rookie season. Outkast
Connection Center Marcus Richardson ranked
2nd in rebounds with 12.4 rpg and was a
close runner-up in the ballots.
After leading the
division in steals (24 steals) and finishing 2nd in
three-pointers (28 three's) JimenezWockeez guard
Aaron Jimenez finished the ballot as Rookie of the
Season. The League Commissioner Hanz Jimenez
hesitated to give his cousin the award but after
finishing the season in the top 3 in categories,
certainly his stats deserved recognition especially
after the team started with a 0-2 start. "It was
difficult for me to award Aaron the Rookie of the Season
award especially since he's my cousin but our voting
panel chose who should be recognized for certain awards
on Week 8." Marselis Irving was a runner-up for
the award (19.5 ppg) along with Paul Abel of 562
Renegades
562 Renegades guard Luigi Pardini
improved his scoring average by nearly 10 points. Luigi
averaged 14.5 ppg and the sharp turnaround helped rookie
team 562 Renegades become one of the division's top
teams this season.
