Preseason Week 1 Week 2 Week 3 Week 4 Week 5 Week 6 Week 7 Week 8 PLAYOFFS  ALL STAR WEEKEND

2 YEARS AND 10 SEASONS later, Superstar Basketball celebrates its 10th season by re-launching, "Lifestyle".

The first issue launched on August 6, 2006 in Season One. It was a paper newsletter that was handed out every week and the newspaper featured game previews, recaps, standings, and statistics.

The online version was implemented two seasons ago and will be re-launched in the next few weeks. From shoes, video games, training, music, hip hop, Lifestyle will cover the latest trends.

 NEW GYM
 10.7.08
Our hours for Week 1 at Walnut Rec is limited.
  2 p.m. - 5 p.m.
We may get more hours after 5 p.m., we're just waiting for confirmation.
  The reason... NJB.

We are getting Upland Sports Arena. Hours are from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m.

Our hours for Week 2 is from 12 p.m. - 5 p.m. at Walnut Rec.
More hours after 5 p.m. might be available!!

  THE NEW GIRL
Kristin is brand new and she's getting heat already.
She's not familiar with anyone in the league and she's going by the books.
She has no affiliation so she's scheduling everything based on priority.
We ARE DELEGATING tasks... that's all it is.
Last 9 seasons, I've been Commish, scheduler, bill collector, janitor, photographer
videographer, director, secretary, announcer, player, Lebronze leading scorer,
pimp on Friday nights (jk). But seriously, last season we had Omar do
announcing at All Star Game... I've had people start doing other things just so
  more people are involved.

Last season, there were a lot of teams who lagged on payment.
There were a lot of teams who abused the system.
We changed the new policy so that I don't have to do the schedule anymore
and I can focus on other things like trying to get sponsors, improving Superstar
  TV, and improving the website.

In regards to the schedule, PLEASE PLEASE e-mail her.

schedule@superstarbasketball.org

There is no R. It's not SCHEDULER. LOL.
See you guys on the next post.

 9.29.08
Brea Canyon (Walnut Gym) will not be available for us this coming season.

Just a reminder, if your team has a substantial balance from the past seasons,
make sure it gets paid for. If you show up on the 80's list, well my new staff
member Kristin placed you there for a reason. Season is dun-zo already... and
your team still has a balance? How does that work?

Also, our GM Meeting is this Sunday, 5 p.m. at Walnut Rec.
We will have our staff meeting immediately after at 6 p.m.
We will be accepting payments on-hand so be there.

Several issues we need to vote on...
  - 15 man roster?
  - Payment reminders
  - Officials
  - New rules, if any.
  - Uniforms (NO MORE TAPE ALLOWED, SIlent But Deadly, cough)

Pizza is on Anthony Palacol. J/K.

A lot of people are wondering what my outlook was this past season. So I'll
  break it down to you.

  LEBRONZE DIVISION
Every team had fun. We realized that even with a small number amount of teams,
even with a lower level of talent, teams will still be competitive. People who
personally know me know that I created this division to counter all those
6-foot and under only Asian Leagues. Basketball isn't a race sport. It's a
skill sport. Unfortunately, people still play the race card and at a time when a
US team with LeBron, loses to another country, people still believe race has a lot
to do with basketball. I'm 5'2 (I'm sticking to that story), and I'm Filipino, and I led
the division in scoring with 22 a game. I didn't lead the division in scoring because
of my race, I did it because I worked hard for it.

  GOLD DIVISION
With so many teams, only the 5-3 teams made it to the Playoffs. It makes the
Playoffs exciting and Nusantara proved that any team can win in Gold. You can
have superstars and an all-star in your squad but that will get you nowhere.
Most teams play team basketball and the run-and-gun style of the guards make
  the division what it is.

  PLATINUM and DIAMOND DIVISION
Our best season yet. Diamond will have all-NBA rules this coming season and
this past season, we had our biggest turnout with former NBA players gracing
  the Walnut Rec hardwood.

  OFFICIALS
We expect fair officiating. We expect officials to explain to us why they make
certain calls. I'm guilty of criticizing some officials on the spot... and the
next day when I watch film and see pictures, well, I see how they make
  certain calls.

Listen, humans aren't perfect. They make mistakes. But this is their job and they
  do this professionally.

I wanted Superstar to have the same refs all the time, just like the NBA. A lot of
players don't like the history with certain officials and they feel like there's a
certain bias against them. Even I started feeling this way.

This coming season, we're bringing a new group of officials on one side of
the court. I'm not saying one side of officials is better than the other. I'm holding
on to Reggie's crew because I'm loyal. What I'm doing is providing you with
options to see new officials officiate your game.

  1-MAN SHOW
When I played my April Fool's Joke... I wanted to see how many teams really
cared about the league, and it was a test to see which staff members are loyal.

I realized how many players were loving the league and they wanted the show
to continue even without me there. I started delegating the tasks more and...

You can already see it. Omar was doing the announcing during All Star Game.
I've shown up late (11 a.m.) numerous times to see if the early crew can get
the games running and they have. Ryan Francisco is doing a good job in San
Diego and next season, someone is handling the fees and collecting payments
since I obviously suck at it.

When you see bigger prizes, when you see All Star jerseys, when you see
the quality of the league go up, that's because of you.

It sounds corny but, YOU make Superstar what it is.
(dramatic fade out, Frank Sinatra playing in the background...)
"You too, can be a Superstar..."

  FIN.

 The New 80's List
 9.29.08
A big thank you to everyone who made All Star Weekend / Championship weekend
eventful. It was a great turn out and we couldn't have done it without everyone's
  support.

Big ups to B-ball Junkies for donating shirts to give out to the crowd...
Big ups to Omar for working the mic, and his sister for giving out medals.
Big ups to poster boy Alphonso White for handing out medals. I guess when
you retire, you can help out by handing out gold medals.
Big ups to Nikki Aguila and Jon Paras for their work on Superstar TV.
Big ups to all the Champions: Wildcats, Money Inc, Nusantara,
  Lady Skull-basherz.
Big ups to Flight for winning the dunk contest.
Big ups to Ken Wright for winning the 3-point contest.
Big ups to the Diamond squad for pulling out the close win.
Not so big ups to Money Inc for beating USUCK. j/k
Big downer to teams that STILL have a balance, and the season is already over.
A big downer to the Commish for letting them get away with it.
Another big downer to the teams who will be put on the 80's list this Friday.
The list has already been updated with TROY and Foundation on it.
Big ups to my new staff member who will handle scheduling and
  receiving payment.
A big downer to the Commish for being good at graphic design but sucking
when it comes to collecting fees.
Big ups to the staff, especially Francis Pascual, Superstar Staff Member of the
  Season.
