 MOVING FORWARD
 11.20.08
   THE BRAWL
We need to move forward and put Sunday's melee behind us.
I have my own opinions regarding the situation but crying over spilled milk
over the Internet won't resolve anything. It already happened, punishment
has been handed out to both sides, let's build on our reputation as one of
the best basketball leagues in Southern Cali.

   DON'T GET IT TWISTED
When we write about games (previews and recaps), we tend to fabricate
on material especially with rookies since they really don't have a history yet.
During Rivalry Week, we hype it up and we do exaggerate on certain material.
We have experimented with just... writing about the games and making it
bland like plain vanilla but no one was reading it, no one was interested.
Our writers have different styles, some make it dramatic, hyping it up...

When you have a good game, everyone knows about it. When you mess up,
you suffer the consequences. Losing a Championship Game, having a game
winner on my face (Matt Stein), slippin' in the scoring race... I've had all that
written about me. That's what keeps me driven to improve. The website is
one of the things that made Superstar Basketball successful. It's interactive.
If you do good, you look like a hero. If you mess up... well... don't mess up.

The reporting on Sunday wasn't fabricated.

Witnesses were interviewed and nothing was over blown. It's a scene I never
want to witness again and law enforcements will be contacted if a next
fight takes place (knocks on wood). I know, it comes with the territory of
running a sports league. 1 Fight in 10 seasons is impressive. Those guys are
   out... let's move on

   WHO YOU GONNA CALL?
I am obligated to contact the General Manager, and no one else. I'm not going
out of my way to call anybody who throws punches and fights fans in the
league. There's nothing to straighten out when I saw the fight first hand.
If your General Manager is confirming with me the information, then you need to
resolve that with your General Manager. If GMs have their players contact me
for whatever reason, well you're not only wasting my time but the league's also.

I really didn't want to post the previous blog before but days after the incident
I still feel the same way. It might be a good insight on how my week went...
If you're sick of the fight and don't want to hear about it, don't read.

   Peace.

SO NOW I'M THE BAD GUY?
 11.18.08
  PROFESSIONALISM
I'm trying to be a pro.... but this is where I'm coming from.
This past incident really hits home.
The last time I saw a woman get hit, well you see, I come from a broken home.
I never really forgave my dad for hitting my mom... and men hitting women
isn't tolerated. I witnessed it AT OUR GYM, IN OUR LEAGUE, OUR FIRST FIGHT.

EXCUSE MY FRENCH BUT WHAT THE FUCK JUST HAPPENED?

Days after our FIRST FIGHT, I'm supposed to be PROFESSIONAL?
Days after our FIRST FIGHT, I'm supposed to just get over it?
Days after our FIRST FIGHT, I'm supposed to just get on with life
  like nothing happened?

  WHERE I'M FROM
You can't move forward without looking back.
The league stemmed from St. Martha's Basketball League, a church league.
I had the vision of Superstar Basketball when I sacrificed all my
  temptations.
I'm not saying I'm a prophet or I'm the next Messiah. All I'm saying
is that I was blessed with having a vision of the league. It's not too often you
have a league that grows this fast, that has this much going for them. I know
I'm still blessed because well, I'm still sacrificing those temptations.
I have zero tolerance for fighting, zero tolerance for gangs.
In a time where there was a lot of gang influence (mid 90's), I was on the
basketball court. At a time when my friends were influenced, I was running
a church league. At a time when my broken family was fighting, my escape
  was playing basketball.

TRUE LIFE: I'M A FAN AND I GOT HIT
How would you feel if your fans got hit by players who went into the stands
  after a game?
How would you feel if you saw girls get hit... after the game?
How would you feel if fans that weren't even 18 yet... fans that are half the size
of these players, got hit because players couldn't stand losing?
... in a week that WE'RE SUPPOSED TO CELEBRATE FANS.

I'm not taking sides, High Five cannot bring their fans. High Five was suspended
1 game. Punishment was handed out both sides. The last time I saw fans ruin
a sporting event live was at Nogales H.S. (1996). It was a Halo Halo Society
basketball tournament and after a rumble that fans caused, Halo Halo Society
was over. All because fans got involved in a fight. No more mingling with the
other schools, no more Halo Halo Society Picnic with everyone else... all because
  of a fight.

As a fan, you have a responsibility. Cheer on your team but refrain
from taunting. There's a big difference when you cheer on your team
and when you insult people. I know I cheer too, but most of the time it's this...

  "YO (NAME), I SEE YOU."
"YO (NAME), SHOW ME SOMETHING! UM, wow that's it!"
"DID YOU SEE HIM GET DUNKED ON?" (stinky face facial expression)

WE ARE LUCKY WE STILL HAVE UPLAND GYM.
We got off easy. It's our first season at UPLAND GYM and they let us easy.
IN TWO WEEKS, UPLAND AND ASC are our only gyms.
We don't have Walnut Rec because of NJB.
We don't want to lose UPLAND.

  OUR REPUTATION
Before, we can walk around, proudly saying, "Our league has never had a fight."
I guess we can't say that anymore.
I find it ironic that players from Shock Value called to harass me because I
wrote about the incident. I was insulted that they turned around and tried to
blame me for ruining their reputation when I wasn't the one fighting fans in
  the stands.

You're going to try to sue me for deformation of character because
I 'photoshopped' your picture? (no names mentioned)
You're going to try to sue Superstar Basketball for deformation of character
because I wrote about you guys hitting girls? Weren't you guys the ones that
fought kids that were half your size? Weren't you the ones who started the
league's first fight. The Women's Division is finally growing. What if we lose
the women's teams because of this incident? What if Nusantara and High
Five don't come back next season because of this? Whose reputation
took a hit? NOT YOURS, NOT US. OURS. NO ONE WINS WHEN YOU FIGHT.

  CANT HANDLE THE TRUTH
Don't get the story twisted, the story I wrote
SUSPENSIONS was based on
people's accounts of what happened. GM Anthony Palacol provided me the
details of the fight, but now I'm a bad guy who makes up these stories? I have
not mentioned any names whatsoever... but seriously, ya'll can't take away
my freedom of speech. It's already sugar-coated and pictures were removed.
Leave it alone, leave me alone.
You did the crime. You're out.
I never saw Ron Artest calling ESPN.COM or David Stern trying to get a revision
of the story so why is it that I'm the bad guy now?

  P.S.
  NO NAMES MENTIONED.

  CHINO HILLS
I've been watching this fire all day. Got stuck on the 71 freeway for 30 minutes
and I couldn't chow down on any Filipino food. =/  The fires are really close
and the 57 freeway continues to be closed.

Games at ASC have been moved to Upland.
This schedule is tentative until MIDNIGHT.
I don't want to have a time frame but we gotta keep the show going.

  Be safe out there.

  PODCAST
Allen Brown and Alphonso White both told me that the podcast wasn't
working last Sunday.  It was working in my system... then I installed the
latest Flash player. Next thing you know, no podcast and tthe mixes by
  Mark-fa-der-from-the-An-ti-dotes wasn't available for me.

Geek talk aside, the podcast player is updated. It should work with the latest
  version of Flash player.

  SCHEDULING

Is getting real smooth nowadays. Just e-mail me on Monday/Tuesday.
I see how many e-mails I get, wait once, change again. and on Fridays...
I finalize it by 5 p.m. Done deal. If you haven't fully paid, you have no priority.

  NBA, IT'S FAN-TASTIC
This week's theme is NBA. Part of the NBA experience is the fans. This week,
we're doing something different on the podcast. We're interviewing your
fans, and taking pictures of the fans who support you. =)

  RINGERS - HIGH ALERT
Last week was tough. Not only was there 2 teams who used ringers but
there were 2 cases were there was a false alarm
.

One team, High Five, wrote Francis Pascual in when I knew he was doing stats.
The player who did play was rookie, Patrick. GM's, when you fill out the game
log, make sure you fill it out correctly.

There's another instance where a team is questioning the identity of one player.

STATS KEEPERS have the RIGHT TO PHOTO ID YOUR PLAYERS.
PLEASE BE SURE YOU REMIND YOUR PLAYERS TO BRING THEIR PHOTO ID.
THE LAST THING I WANT TO DO IS SIT YOUR PLAYERS OUT.

  FEES
There's a lot of teams who haven't fully paid. A friendly reminder will be sent out
and it should have your team's balance. Please pay on Sunday.

  Thanks.

  P.S.
Game logs were late. Recaps are pending.
Don't bring ringers, or we'll delay everything.

  P.S.S.
On a high note, I cranked out 2 short episodes of Superstar TV (no pun intended)
  and a new gallery, KICKS.

 CHAIN REACTION
 11.11.08
Second half of the season... and we already found "RINGERS"
Both teams were fined $80 each.
Explanation for the "ringers" situations is on
LIFESTYLE.
Like we always say, it only takes 1 team to mess it up. ONE.
Let's say a team comes late early in the morning or let's say a team steals a ball.
Let's say a team acted stupid and we lose a gym because of that ONE team.
The whole league suffers. It's all ONE league. You feel me?
Game logs will be posted tomorrow. Everything is 2 days late.
You can thank Posse and Lethal Interjection on that. =)

  SCHEDULING

Teams are finally doing what I see is a good solution to the scheduling.
There's teams that always get their specific game time and I'll do my best to
lock them down at that time. There's Outlawz and The Rock that play at night...
there's Them Guys and Smokin Aces that like to play in the morning.
Teams are e-mailing me that they can't play in two weeks and they'd like to play
a double-header this week. TO me, that makes it so easssy... so thank you.
Then there are teams that try to re-schedule on Saturday afternoon / Sunday
  morning....

  PLAYER OF THE WEEK PICTURES
I'll be taking most of the pictures this weekend so for the past Player of the
Week players... get your haircut, buy that jersey, do what you gotta do...
and the Player of the Week players in the Women's Division, easy on the make up.

P.S.  Dagobah System won. Semi Pro Inc lost. I think I'm gonna go buy a lottery
ticket cuz nothing is normal these days.  (jk)
