ALL STAR WEEKEND

Halloween is around the corner. More frightening is the competition in Platinum and Gold Division where teams have found loopholes to stack their roster.

GOLD DIVISION
- Money Shot adds Alphonso White (Platinum Division Finals MVP, Summer 2008), and Carl Hardin (Platinum Div. All Star)

PLATINUM DIVISION
- Relics add Ryan Snook (Diamond Div. leading scorer) to roster
- Bank is about to add Cortez Ward (Diamond All Star) in the roster.

While the Gold and Platinum Division gets tougher, teams moving up are struggling to find team chemistry. The three teams that moved up have made notable additions this week.

DIAMOND DIVISION
- Money Inc - added Alphonso White and PJ Lee to the roster
- UBANK II - added Kenneth Ubom to the roster
- USUCK - added Mark Davidson and Adrian Eddington.

We look at several players who have made huge transformations from the first day they played in Superstar Basketball to the player they are today.

-- Shooting For The Record - JR Gonzalez

We caught up with Reigning MVP, JR Gonzalez of Them Guys. The sophomore has logged 25 three-pointers in a span of 3 games against some of the top teams in the Gold Division (Dynasty, 3-0, Money Shot, 2-0, n00bs, 0-2). He gives us an insight on family business, and his work ethic off the hardwood.My home court would have to be Yosemite park, right next to Eagle Rock High School. I used to play there every single day after school.

2. What kind of workouts do you do to stay in shape?

Well I just run multiple pick up games against guys for my workout, i don�t weight lift lol. But as far as shooting, i take about 300 to 400 shots a workout, with each spot i shoot from i have to make 15 in a row in order to move on, if I miss I start over. It teaches me discipline and also how to stay focused and not cheat myself.

4. You�re a Defensive Player of the Season, MVP, Fantasy Player of the season. Obviously you can do it all. Give us a sample of your workout regimen so we can stop wanting to be like Flight and wanting to be like Andrew Knox.

Haha. I think everyone wants to be like Flight. Even me. Who doesn�t want to dunk from the 3pt line?

I guess I�m just one of those rare players that actually like to play D. We are a rare breed. I don�t think anyone would want to be like me, but if they did then I would just say work hard on the other end of the floor and get your teammates involved.

1. When you first came in the league, you were one of the player who were picked on the most. As a rookie, your numbers were humble but as time passed, your game developed. What did you do to get better?

Well first off the league gave me the motivation to get better by anyone able to pull up my stats at any given moment just gave me the motivation to get better�so I figured out wat I needed to work on to get my game right. I came to the conclusion that I need to work on my midrange jumper an using my quickness to be productive on the court�the main thing I did to help on my jumper was the Steve Nash 20 min video it takes u through a bunch of in game shots that u can practice within 20 min�.

Most of the team stats are up. Diamond, Platinum, LeBronze, Women's.
Gold Division team stats should be up later today.
Sortable stats are usually up by Saturday around Week 3 but they'll be up today.

Last weekend went real smooth. Everything was back to normal so thanks.....

ASSISTS
It's rare I do stats nowadays but doing the Left Coast vs. Goons game was
real easy for me. When there's numbers on the front of the jersey, it's easy to
keep track of stats.

Next season, we will make it mandatory that all jerseys have numbers in the
front. It's better stats-keeping for everyone and the whole league will benefit
from it.

The league will take betters track of assists, a problem that I am aware of.
I know it's an assists when a player passes the ball to a shooter and the shooter
makes it. When everything goes so fast especially in a Diamond Division game,
it's hard to track who passed the ball before the shooter made it. When there's
numbers in the front, it's easy to track it.

One thing people are confused about is fast break assists. When a player
takes more than 3 steps, usually the stats-keepers don't credit the passer with
an assist. If it's less than 2 steps, usually an assist is credited.

NEW CAMERA
Yes. I lagged this week when it came to writing and game logs.
My bad. I've been playing with the new camera. We're getting better quality
photos and the point and shoot Canon has ran its course. Better pictures means
new gallery so stay tuned.

LAKE SHOW
After 2 games, my team is looking pretty good. If you're a bandwagon fan,
there's plenty of room to jump on. If you got tickets, hollah at yo boy.

All I want to do is provide a great league everyone can enjoy.
In a perfect world, there would be no money involved, no egos, just basketball.

Week 2 was hell but I'm over it. There will be changes mind you. Changes.

SCHEDULE
Scheduling is a priority. Your preferred time is a priority. If your team's
not caught up with payment of there are behavior problems, you won't get
your preferred game times. Schedule will only be updated at night and
finalized at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

TRADES
  I have one team from last season asking for a refund because of a trade...
We're being careful on how we go about trades this season. Both GMs must
agree to a trade. I find it ironic how a team would finish out the season after
the trade is done, then ask for their money back after they finished the season
with a losing record.

   If your player quit on you and joined another team, how is that the league's fault?
   PLEASE BE SURE YOU KNOW WHO YOU'RE PICKING UP FOR YOUR TEAMS.
   If a player is likely to drop from your roster, why pick him up?

BALLS
   Upland Gym will have a game ball provided this week.
   Walnut Rec will not.
   ASC will not.

DELAYS
   If you're wondering why write ups or stats are late... well... balls were stolen
   and certain teams are acting up. We do it as a disciplinary action kinda deal...

   REFS
   If you win, they're great. If you lose, they suck.
   Doesn't matter who refs, they all suck when you lose.
   They're the common scapegoat...even NBA players complain about their refs.
   Last season, a lot of teams asked for new refs. We got the association of refs
   who has different refs officiating your game. A lot of teams don't like the new
   refs already. All I'm saying is... be careful what you ask for.
