Preseason Week 1 Week 2 Week 3 Week 4 Week 5 Week 6 Week 7 Week 8 PLAYOFFS  ALL STAR WEEKEND

Two players celebrated Season 10 with a block party in last week's season-opener.

Boss Players All Star,
Alton Sinclair, tied the record by swatting 9 shots against The Business in a Platinum Division match-up at Upland Sports Arena.

1 Hour later, rookie
Victor Perez made his debut with Sik Wid It and the record was shattered. Perez blocked 12 shots against Stun Inc. at Walnut Rec Center.

Are the kids starting a new trend this season?

We asked several players, staff writers, fans about the playground.

- James Bernardo: Playground > Hardwood
1. Every player has their playground, their home court, their HOME. Take us back to your roots. Where do you play at?

My home court would have to be Yosemite park, right next to Eagle Rock High School. I used to play there every single day after school.

Me and my friends (now the elements), also used to play at Irwindale Park. Even then, the Elements and the guys from the Hippos played several competitive games. We would play there every Sunday afternoon before Superstar Basketball started. Bright lights that made it seem like its day time and they dont turn off until like 10 p.m.

This week’s theme is “Playground”. Check out the video of one of the greatest street ballers, “Bone Collector”.

One of the most memorable moments in Superstar Basketall history was the debut of Bone Collector. The streetball legend played for Foundation and brought home a Championship (Summer 2007) after scoring 45 points and 3 three-pointers.

 DISTRACTED
 10.24.08
All I want to do is provide a great league everyone can enjoy.
In a perfect world, there would be no money involved, no egos, just basketball.

Week 2 was hell but I'm over it. There will be changes mind you. Changes.

  SCHEDULE

Scheduling is a priority. Your preferred time is a priority. If your team's
not caught up with payment of there are behavior problems, you won't get
your preferred game times. Schedule will only be updated at night and
finalized at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

  TRADES
I have one team from last season asking for a refund because of a trade...
We're being careful on how we go about trades this season. Both GMs must
agree to a trade. I find it ironic how a team would finish out the season after
the trade is done, then ask for their money back after they finished the season
  with a losing record.

If your player quit on you and joined another team, how is that the league's fault?
PLEASE BE SURE YOU KNOW WHO YOU'RE PICKING UP FOR YOUR TEAMS.
If a player is likely to drop from your roster, why pick him up?

   BALLS
Upland Gym will have a game ball provided this week.
   Walnut Rec will not.
   ASC will not.

   DELAYS
If you're wondering why write ups or stats are late... well... balls were stolen
and certain teams are acting up. We do it as a disciplinary action kinda deal...

   REFS

If you win, they're great. If you lose, they suck.
Doesn't matter who refs, they all suck when you lose.
They're the common scapegoat...even NBA players complain about their refs.
Last season, a lot of teams asked for new refs. We got the association of refs
who has different refs officiating your game. A lot of teams don't like the new
refs already. All I'm saying is... be careful what you ask for.

 BLOCKED
 10.21.08
This is probably the worst week ever. Last week was bad but this week
  was just another level.

  WRONG SINCLAIR

We have pre-printed game logs so that we get stats right...
On Week 1, we can't pre-print anything because obviously everyone has their
first games. Now.... Alton, Anthony... it looked the same, it was chicken scratch
to me... and when I input the stats, I credited Alton 9 blocks when it was Anthony.

So... now we have a BLOCK PARTY picture of Alton, who blocked 0 shots.
It should have been credited to Anthony, and no one told me until a week later??
It's important you write legible. If you write like a 3rd grader, have someone else
write it for you. This isn't a problem in Week 3-4 since we have everyone's
names pre-printed. We misspell a lot of names because the GMs don't know it,
or they write like a 3rd grader. The best thing to do is type it, give it to us, and
  everything will be correct.

Evan Nankung - it really is Evan Namkung
Kenneth Uloom - It was Kenneth Ubom
  Derrick Devon - Derek DeVan

  WALNUT REC

I just out out of a lengthy meeting with the City of Walnut regarding the conduct
of our players, and our fans on Week 2. We provide a family environment, and
we provide a safe atmosphere for everyone. There are kids in the stands so
please watch the cursing. For me... to have a meeting with the City of Walnut
and the gym directors is a serious matter.

"...these people have let me know that on some games,
players are beyond the control of what a technical foul
  could produce.
I will not put my officials in a situation that will
damage my reputation with officials or put them in harms way
because of recalcitrant players and unruly fans."

It was a heated game (Stunners vs. Semi Pro Inc), there were a lot of tempers,
but the new officials are portraying our league in manner where it almost
  seems like we are UNRULY.

The last thing I want is for us to get kicked out of Walnut Rec. Not only are your
fans watching but other people are watching our games. Please conduct
yourself in a manner where you aren't only representing yourself but
  the  league.

  MISSING TF-s

  Lost 2 balls again!!
The game ball at Upland Gym wasn't missing so they still have their game ball.

Walnut Rec and ASC will not have game balls provided because of 2 balls
that were lost at the both gyms.

Stats-keepers Mark Jimenez and Harry Yoo are replacing them and 50
dollars is coming out of their pay. So for the people who did take the ball... if
you can just give it back to Mark or Harry so that they get their 50 dollars back
  that would be great.

  DELAYS
The scheduler quit, balls are missing, and I'm having meetings I shouldn't be
having. Game logs, articles will be late. If everyone just chilled out and just
played basketball, I wouldn't have to be caught up with extra meetings...

  WHAT HAPPENED WITH ASC

2-3 hour delays because certain stats-keepers had other priorities (playing in
another city basketball league). If it's that important to you, to play in another
league, you're more than welcomed to. Just don't do stats for us next time
because it creates a domino effect when you want to go eat or do whatever
it is you do all the time.

  THANK YOU

Thanks to the players who stepped up and did stats when we were short
handed. Thank you to those whose games were delayed and still stuck around
2-3 extra hours just to play their games. Thanks for being patient with us...

Because of all this, we're getting new stats-keepers and we're scheduling
games based on our schedule, not yours. For this week, work with our schedule
  and
DO NOT REQUEST FOR GAME TIMES.

 SHE'S GONE CEDRIC CEBALLOS
 10.18.08
  SCHEDULER
  Um... bad news guys.
  Um...
We don't have a scheduler anymore so it looks like I have the daunting task
of collecting fees and doing the schedule once again. If she hasn't replied to
your e-mail, well, that's cuz she made like Cedric Ceballos and went AWOL.

  SCRIPTS
I tried this automated thing where the schedule should have fed to the
scoreboard. It didn't work so um... I'll have to do it manually, again.

  JUST A REMINDER
Check in with your FIRST NAME and LAST NAME.
Stats keepers will be looking at photo ID so have photo ID, please.
We are providing game balls at the games... so do not steal them.
I hate playing with Spaldings, cheap Nike Balls, and those generic basketballs
that stick to your hand when you shoot. We are providing game balls, so don't
take advantage and take it home for yourself.

   Thanks and see you tomorrow.

   P.S.
The staff would like to tell the rookies to bring extra Gatorade for the staff.
As rookies, you have to. Otherwise we won't write good things about you. =)
   J/K. Maybe not.

 BUSY WEEK
 10.17.08
  New GYM??
  We're working on a gym in West Covina. It's limited hours from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
These gyms are expensive sometimes and they are revenue oriented. We'll see...

  SCHEDULE
I don't see the schedule being moved around. It's Friday, 12 p.m. and
Kristin tells me she gets 20 e-mails a day... and she's apologizing if she doesn't
respond to all the e-mails. Good thing you guys don't see her, she could be on
  Superstar TV =Ž

  HIStory
I hope everyone is enjoying the new Lifestyle features. Week 1 was called
HIStory which can be found in our online magazine which was recently re-done.
Next week the theme is Playground. If all works well, we might have the same
themes every season. Week 1, we'll always profile a Superstar player.. Week 2...
talk about playground.. so on and so on...
