   went green...

SEASON 11 - BANNER, LAYOUT, GEEK TALK
 12.17.08
The banner on the top is hideous. That should be updated by next week.
Championship teams from Fall 2008 will be honored with their
   Championship pictures at the top.

After 3 seasons with a black layout with Season 10 being the most difficult, I
decided to go back to basics. White, tan, gray... if you have any ideas of what
you want for this season, shoot me an e-mail:

   commish@superstarbasketball.org

   PRE-SEASON SCHEDULE

As soon as you make a payment, Omar or I should be sending you an e-mail to fill
out on what times you want your game time. It's first come, first serve so the
sooner you pay, the sooner you get your game times.

 SEASON 11 - GONE FISHIN'
 12.15.08
   It's CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK..
...and around this time of the season, there's a lot of teams fishin'
A lot of teams are getting ready for next season and a lot of players have already
made moves for SEASON 11. Here's a brief rundown of what we're doing
in our end. CHECK OUT WHAT WE'RE DOING TO FIIX THE MESSY SEASON
   THAT WAS SEASON 10.

   PRE-SEASON SCHEDULE
   +
For the first time ever, we're scheduling your games 1 week before the season
starts. This saves our time and this will give you a schedule your team can work
around. Not only will this limit forfeits but it will give us more time to write your
previews. The advance scheduling will produce more scouting from other teams,
more fans will fill up the stands and the game will be more competitive than ever.

   PUBLIC RELATIONS
   +
Omar Alameddine is our P.R. He'll be collecting fees from teams because I
fired myself from that job. He got a head start by collecting past league fees on
Week 8 and Playoffs. He'll also work with me on finding new gyms and pre-
   season schedule.

   NUMBERS ON THE FRONT
   +
Teams must now have numbers in the front of their jerseys. It helps us take
stats more accurately. If you've never taken stats before, check out this scenario.
+ Player grabs rebound, throws outlet pass for an assist to player who makes
the layup. In two seconds, the guy who inbounds the ball throws it down to his
teammate who scores and gets fouled.

+ First you get the player who fouled, you write down his number, then you credit
the 2 points. If the guy who grabbed the rebound ... to make a long story short, if
the players don't have numbers in the front, it's difficult to get their stats and you
have to wait for them to turn around.

   LEAGUE FEES DUE UP FRONT
   +
The days of paying only $140 for 3 games are no longer there. Why? Well... take
a look at the new 80's list and you'll see how many teams didn't pay fully. We do a
lot of work on our end, we have gym fees, insurance, officials, and writers we
   have to pay for.

15 MAN ROSTER FOR ALL DIVISIONS
   +
Need to lower your team cost? Add a player or two to lower everyone's league
fees. Why pay $110 each with 6 players when you can pay $55 with a 12 man
   roster.

 TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE
 12.13.08
    Dear GOD,

Why does this keep happening?
I know it was too good to be true to have the schedule final yesterday but...
    uh...G-O-D... here we go again.

I guess PRACTICE is more important for Upland High School... so now
all the Platinum Division and Diamond Division games have to be moved.

We're real thankful Walnut Rec got us our games again. 7-8-9 p.m.
We're real lucky ASC made room for us even with volleyball their top priority
    right now.
We're thankful that Ontario High School is opening their doors for our Playoffs.

They say Fall season is the hardest... but I'm about to fall to the ground and
just have a heart attack. Stupid ball and stupid heart beat on the front page.

On the bright side, at least ASC gave us a reliable schedule for next season.
On the bright side, at least the trophies for next week have already been
    ordered.
On the bright side, at least the Championship shirts from last season is looking
    really, really awesome.

Whatever doesn't kill us makes us stronger right?

 PLAYOFF SCHEDULE
 12.12.08
   ...welcome to the REAL SEASON.

   DIAMOND AND PLATINUM DIVISION

ALL THE GAMES ARE IN UPLAND HIGH SCHOOL.
Game times are set. If players have a conflict with other teams in the other
   divisions, let me know.

PLATINUM games are all in the morning. Upland only has 1 court. Either you
have a good floor, or we can move all Platinum games to Upland Sports.
The way I see it, it's...
    GYM FLOOR > GAME TIME.
Work your schedule around us, the last time I changed games for someone...
they were pretty ungrateful about it.

    END OF THE SEASON AWARDS
Leaked some out in the recaps... we're leaking some more.

GM OF THE SEASON - DIAMOND, HENRY FRIERSON, THE GOONS
MVP - DIAMOND, SEAN HARRIS, NEW IMAGE
GM OF THE SEASON - LEBRONZE, RON HERNANDEZ, ASSASSINS
ROOKIE OF THE SEASON - GOLD, WALTER TAMIDLES, BUCKETS
MVP - GOLD, DEDRICK BATES, GAME BANG

 EXIT INTERVIEWS
 12.10.08
Thank you for participating in our Exit Interviews. Some of the things I want
    to address...

   FAQ

   1. There needs to be 2 stats-keepers. Why does Francis Pascual
   work by himself?

   - Some stats-keepers like to work by themselves. Francis, Omar, Harry, Kendra,
Mark... those are our veteran stats-keepers who can do stats by themselves.
I've sat with them occasionally while they do work solo and they do catch
everything. I did Dagobah System vs. That Same team by myself AND took
pictures AND did the write up and working solo actually works better for some
   stats-keepers.

   2. Get a new GYM. We hate Upland.

   - I don't like the floor myself and I've heard they're renovating it in next year.
We won't have Walnut Rec until February and that's when NJB season ends.
We are looking at several gyms for the post-season and we're actually lucky
we're still playing at Upland especially after Week 6. Sometimes, we can't have
everything, and this is just one of them. What I do realize is that shooters have
an easier time at Upland since the rims are "shooter-friendly".

In the past, assessment on the referees were 60-40, 50-50 in their
favor. This season, 80 percent said refs were good, 20 percent said
refs were bad. Maybe it was because we got a comparison of how
bad some refs really were especially when we had another association
   officiate early in the season.

What I do realize this season is that I can't do everything by myself.
There was a time when Superstar was a 1-man show but NOW, there are a lot
more teams and I can't do it by myself. I see the league as a team, and this is
what I'm good at: web design, photos, media, all the multimedia features... that's
what I want to focus on.

What I don't do well is collect fees. What I don't do well is make phone calls
when players are suspended. I gave all our stats-keepers the task of collecting
fees and one did exceptionally well, Omar Alameddine.

    IRONY
Omar Alameddine was a former referee. He knows the rules of officiating...
he's a stickler when it comes to stats-keeping and he knows what it's like for
players when they lose their cool and get punished with suspensions. Irony
isn't it? A hot tempered player handing out suspensions... but as a stat-keeper,
he's proven. As a ref, he stuck to the rules. As a GM, he's fronted the funds for
his team just so the league doesn't have to worry about collecting from his team.

Next season, he'll start his tenure as PUBLIC RELATIONS. He's basically the
new Stu Jackson of the league. He'll handle suspensions, collecting league fees
and handing out fines to teams/players.

    NEXT SEASON
Be on the lookout for the new site. A lot of teams have been asking about
registration and I don't we should be waiting for Christmas to register.

I'm multi-tasking and getting the new site going for next season. Omar may be
calling you or e-mailing you about league fees from this season, just a heads up.
I'll try to crank it out by Friday.

    PEACE.

 UPLAND HIGH SCHOOL
 12.6.08
   UPLAND GYM

DIRECTIONS
   FINAL SCHEDULE

   NJB
Just to clarify.... NJB stands for National Junior Basketball. They've been around
for years and they've funded most of the gyms in our area. They helped fund
Walnut Rec so it's no wonder why we don't have Walnut Rec during NJB season.

   HEART ATTACK

I got a disturbing call from ASC saying they couldn't accommodate us for Week 8.
Well... hours later, they said the best they can do is 2 courts from 7 p.m. to 10.
Most of you who hate on our Head Referee, Reggie Ramirez, need to know that
he was the one who helped us in acquiring Upland H.S. So all you haters,
including me, need to chill on the hater-ade.

   FINAL SCHEDULE

Schedule is final as of 6 p.m. I'm trying to watch DLH vs. Pacman err I mean I'll
   be writing all night. =)

Seriously though... here we have a bigger fighter who had his best matches
behind him. Oscar De La Hoya has been cheated so many times by the judges,
had his opponents juice up try to beat him (DLH) and even had Pacman sign with
his promotion company only for Pacman to sign with another promotion company
weeks later.  On the other corner, we have arguably the best pound for pound
fighter in the world today. I don't think he's as strong as Oscar... many consider
him as the underdog, and even I don't think he'll pull this out. That's why the
   game are played right?

   MEDIA DAY

I won't be at one specific spot tomorrow. Our stats-keepers will be taking
team pictures so uh, get your haircut.

   EXIT INTERVIEWS

Do we really need it this season? I'm open to constructive criticism but with
something happening every week this season, I already know what we HAVE
   to do next season.

   SEASON 11 - REGISTRATION

Looks like Santa is leaving you a basketball in your stocking...

ONE BALL, ONE TEAM - SEASON 11
   -
Christmas Day, 12.25.08 - 6 a.m.
   - First come, first serve
   - Teams who pay first online will have priority scheduling.
   - This season, the first 5 weeks will be scheduled before season starts.
   - Week 6, 7 and Week 8 are the only weeks where we'll schedule games on
     a per week basis.
   - Returning Team - $340, New Team - $380, Ref Fees - $280 (8 games)
   - NO TROPHIES. Your trophy is the game ball, your teammates sign it, it goes
in a glass enclosure. That's waaaaaaaay better than any trophy.

 BUMP, BUMP, BUMP
 12.5.08
   NJB
No Walnut Rec Center. NJB is renting the gym out until mid February...

   UPLAND GYM
I just got word that Upland won't be available until after 3 p.m. on Sunday.
   $#%*()#$
We're working on acquiring gyms for the morning hours. Games affected are
the games from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.  ASC is unavailable during that time because of
volleyball. All the night games are good but the games in the morning need to
be re-located. Possible gyms are Upland and Rancho H.S.

We already know why we have low priority at UPLAND. COUGH. COUGH.
Also, there are still a lot of teams NOT FULLY PAID.

   7 GAMES
Just a reminder, Women's Division teams get 7 games, not 8 games.
Teams not playing this weekend will pay the following week for Playoffs.
   All 6 teams qualify.

I'll update this throughout the day.
    Thanks.
