12 p.m.  Global Gym vs. Xplosion Global Gym vs. Xplosion 10 a.m.  Relics vs. Phenoms
PREVIEW: The majority of the critics didn't think that Global Gym would win in the Playoffs when Martin Camarena was unavailable for the post-season last season. Team Captain Lalo Arroyo and company weren't listening to the critics and in Martin's absence, Mike Villa stepped up and was named the Finals MVP.  A season later and the 4-2 Xplosion are almost a lock for a Playoff spot while the 3-3 Global Gym have yet to clinch. Will the Defending Champs be unavailable for post-season play... because of former players, Martin and Adrian Camarena?  Will Xplosion sleep on PJ Marte, Platinum's Defending Player of the Week.

PREVIEW: They are rivals for obvious reasons. Relics Team Captain Ernest Pablo felt it was his best interest to start a new team with former Phenoms guards, Rommel and Romeo Ocfemia. The trio formed Relics and they are "flying under the radar" and have already clinched a playoff spot. Meanwhile, Phenoms is looking at a season without the Playoffs and the Team Captain Alvin Aguilar has already already expressed regret. On his birthday weekend, will childhood friend, Ernest, give him a win for his birthday or will he make Alvin eat his words with his birthday cake?

PREVIEW: Swish will play their second game of a double-header against Mike Teeravatya's Foundation. Swish has repeatedly made offers to bring Mike Tee to the team and last season, that proposal was obviously declined. With Foundation already out of the Playoffs, will the guys from Swish extend another offer to Mike? Mike can't feel too bad for his team, they won two in a row in Week 5 and if they can build on team chemistry, they could become a legitimate threat.  Their upset over Xplosion proved how dangerous they can be.

PREVIEW: Mindstate's Lou Casas has already proven that he can elevate his game when Team Captain Jay-R DeRamos is out of the line-up. Can he do it again this weekend? Mindstate's Derrick DeVan might struggle against potential All Star, Bank's Giyoh Shey. Giyoh has given teams like Global Gym and Game Breakers problems in the past. Could he lead Bank to an unlikely upset over the undefeated Mindstate? Could the two develop a newfound rivalry. We sure do hope so.

PREVIEW: Thrillers Team Captain Justin Reyes had big plans for his young team last season specially with young Kris Carrillo on board. Kris didn't see eye to eye with his Captain's plans and felt it best to win with his own team. He gathered his friends and started Deep Penetration (LOL) and after winning two in a row early in the season, they have recently struggled and are now 2-4.

6 p.m.  Dead End vs. #1 Stunners
PREVIEW: The 3-2 Dead End will play their second game of a double-header against the undefeated Stunners. They have a legitimate chance at beating Stunners and the untested Stunners will have to play back-to-back games. Most teams would crumble in this situation but with the Stunners play as of late, this back-to-back just might be preparing them for the Playoffs. The battle of the PGs will be the x-factor in the outcome of the game.

- RIVALRY WEEK. A Lot of teams have been waiting for their match-ups with that one "SPECIAL" team. As a spectator and and as a fan, there are a lot of games I want to watch. Come out and support your peers.

- Registration for next season has started. YOU CAN REGISTER HERE.  We have Walnut Rec Center for next season and we will cap out at 40 teams. Teams that pay the full amount before March 30 via Paypal will have all Paypal fees waived. Priority in game-time scheduling will be given to teams that pay first. Last Season, Xplosion received this luxury and 12 p.m. was given to their team throughout the whole season.

- The League and its competition. Not concerned with anyone else or anything else and PERSONALLY, I only compete with past seasons. That's why the past seasons are archived so everyone can compare the look and feel of the different sites. On Week 8, it's been standard in seasons past that all Team Captains fill out a survey and your suggestions have been instrumental in the way we do things.

Here's a sample of suggestions last season:

SUGGESTION: Games start on time. Schedules set in advance.
RESPONSE: Schedules have been posted on Monday on MySpace Superstar site. We took it further and allowed teams to adjust game times with teams that paid first receiving first priority. Schedules are finalized on Thursday and so far we've only had 1 game postponed and that was due to a family emergency. Games have started on time except for our first game at Workman H.S., and teams arriving late.

SUGGESTION: We love the site. The MySpace forum needs spice just like the articles. We need more people talking there.
RESPONSE: Freedom of speech. Comments aren't monitored and players are allowed to comment on any subject as long as everyone understands that it's all for entertainment. Andrew, Luke, and myself have been trying to interact with different players just trying to add more traffic to the site and it's finally working. The mundane work week can be somewhat boring and we are trying to provide a channel where people can be entertained. I recently "suspended" myself from participating knowing that our project got off the ground and I can now focus on other aspects of the League.

In 3 seasons, we've been open-minded and open to suggestions as long as its fair for every team and everybody. A lot of the focus next season will be the stats-keepers and providing Platinum Division teams more support since the competitive division is obviously tougher.

From Team Dime to Ten Dimes
For the third week in a row, a record was broken. This time, Mindstate's
Jay-R DeRamos set a new assists record by dishing out 10 assists
against Bank. When he first formed Mindstate after leaving Team
Dime Jay-R was quoted, "I'm still not over the fact that I finished in 2nd
place in assists. I really wanted that." He is on pace to finish 1st this season.

Angkor Wat jumps to the Top
Angkor Wat defeated Conference rival, Aztecs to take over the top spot
in the Gold Division.

RIVALRY WEEK. A lot of players were still hoping for a spot in the All Star Game while others had a personal vendetta to settle. The big names continue to fill up the stat sheet and below are notable performers for Week 7.

Derrick DeVan, Mindstate - 23 points, 14 boards against Swish.
29 points 11 boards, 3 assists against Bank.
Jay-R DeRamos
, Mindstate - 10 assists (new record)
Eliseo Cabildo, Swish - Double-double, 20 points, 10 boards.
Mike Teeravatya, Foundation - 25 points, 7-for-7 ft shooting.
Mark Moton, Deacons - 21 points, 17 boards.
Giyoh Shey, Bank - 34 points, 11 boards, in a loss
Alex Ivezaj, Dead End - 21 points, 9 boards, in a loss.

All we kept hearing about was that #1 Stunners were upset and Dead End's Rob Miller was big in his team's win. He posted 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 blocks to beat the Stunners, 58-53. Congratulations Rob on being Player of the Week!!

Here are notable performances from the players in the Gold Division. We have a new team at the top spot and the Player of the Week was a huge factor in leading his team to the #1 ranking.

Phillip Vallon, Team Dime - 21 points, 7 boards, 55 "Hakeem the Dream" spin moves before a lay-up.
Ken Ngarayawongse, Phenoms - 20 points, 8 boards, 4-for-4 ft.
Jerry Scheiss, Aztecs - 22 points, 6 three-pointers in a loss.
Khorn Leng, Angkor Wat - 30 points, 4 three-pointers.
Kevin Gray, B-LO-DA-RIM - 24 points, 4 steals, 3 boards.
Alex Ivezaj, BBC - 20 points, 15 boards in a loss.

What the box score won't show is the leadership of Angkor Wat's Joseph Flores. The PF made timely buckets to stop Aztecs from making a run and he scored 26 points, and nailed 3 three-pointers to catapult Angkor Wat to the top spot in the Gold Division. Congratulations Joseph, on being the second Angkor Wat player to be named, Player of the Week.
