Freestyle vs. Dynasty

9 a.m.  Aztecs vs. Relics
PREVIEW: Freestyle's Steven Watts is in the Top 20 in rebounding and scoring after scoring 15 points and 15 boards in his first game. Both Freestyle and Dynasty are looking for their first win of the season. Dynasty's Vic Buchanon was impressive in his first outing and the newly-acquired PG should be making a lot noise in the next few weeks.

PREVIEW: Ryan Mileski is tied for 2nd in scoring with an average of 35 ppg.  He is tied for 2nd in steals with 7 but make no mistake about it. This isn't a one-man show. Brian Valladares is tied for the lead in rebounds with Relics Ahron Knox at 25 boards. Relics are playing .500 ball and look for them to be inspired as they face the undefeated Aztecs.

PREVIEW: Both teams are undefeated at 2-0 and the winning team will make a bold statement early in the season. Xplosion's Victor Corella is the third leading rebounder with 18 and he'll have a difficult time trying to contain Deacons' Phil and Mark Moton who are ranked 1st and 2nd in rebounds with 23 and 19, respectively.

PREVIEW: Gold Division's Angkor Wat have the Gold Division's #1 and #2 leading scorer with Khorn Leng at 40 ppg and Joseph Flores with 35 ppg. Abstract might feel overwhelmed after seeing Angkor Wat's stats but if Elements can do it, then Jonash Salvador (10 ppg, 3 apg) and Team Captain Francis Pascual can do it too.

PREVIEW: Swish is facing the Bassett teams in the first 2 games of the season.  Swish and Global Gym opened their season with a lost and both are in search of their first win. Swish's Ron Ninofranco is ranked 2nd in the Division with 5 assists while younger brother, Ryan, is 4th in three-pointers with 3 for the season. Global Gym Team Captain, Lalo Arroyo, leads the team with 16 points while Finals MVP, Mike Villa, leads the team in rebounds with 7.  The defending Champs didn't look too good in their loss against Mindstate in Week 2 and they're hoping to reassert themselves atop the pecking order.

Christian Gopez

PREVIEW: Last time these 2 played, defending Player of the Week, Christian Gopez, was on fire hitting 27 points in last season's Rivalry Week. Phenoms have been struggling and SG, Ryan Francisco is a bit upset after Christian 1-upped him by beating his 3-pt record last week. Christian connected on 9 three's and Team Co-Captain is luke'ing to pass him the rock. The Phenoms and Elements rivalry is even at 1-1 but Luke wants Ken N. to remember that one Sunday afternoon. "The last time we played, I was having some milk and cookies."

2 p.m.  Flight One vs. Mindstate Flight One vs. Mindstate 5 p.m.  Deep Penetration vs. Outkast Connection
PREVIEW: Flight One's Marcus Richardson is ranked second in points per game with 25 points last week against Dynasty. Surprisingly, he is third in the Platinum Division with 3 three-pointers made and strictly a post up player last season, he is showing true range by hitting a lot of mid-range shots. Last season, he was billed as the 'Next Big Thing.' This season, that title belongs to Player of the Week, Mindstate's Derrick Dovan, who dunked numerous times on defending Champions, Global Gym. He leads the league in scoring with 28 ppg. #1 leading scorer vs. #2 leading scorer in this marquee match-up.

Derrick DeVan

PREVIEW: Deep Penetration's Jack Moore is tied for fourth in rebounds with a total of 18 this season. The team won on a miracle game-winner in Week 2 against B-LO-DA-RIM and will try to build on that momentum against the undefeated, Outkast Connection. A team that lives by the 3, we were surprised to discover that no one in the team ranks in the top 20 in three-pointers this season. The loss of Brian Lumbreras to injury will be a big adjustment for Outkast because he was clearly one of the leaders. Defensive Player of the Inaugural Season, don't forget that!!

4 p.m.  Bank vs. Foundation Dead End vs Game Breakers 6 p.m.  Team Dime vs. BBC
PREVIEW: Bank is 0-2 and Foundation is winless at 0-1. The new look Foundation is sticking to their game plan of run-and-gun and the personnel is compiled of mostly guards and small forwards. Bank's Jay Mercado is tied for 2nd in steals with 5 and he leads the team in rebounds with 10. Look for both teams to play with their heart out as both teams look for their first win of the season.

Johnmar DeGuzman

PREVIEW: Team Dime is 2-0 after beating Deep Penetration and Thrillers. Matt Stein has been on fire and Tony Johnson has been a force for the team. BBC proved they improved in the offseason after challenging Outkast Connection in a narrow loss in Week 2. Team Captain, Andrew Persaud ranks #8 in three-pointers with 6 this season. BBC is evidently an improved team and how much they improved will rely on the outcome of this game.

8 p.m.  Dead End vs. Game Breakers

7 p.m.  B-LO-DA-RIM vs. Thrillers
PREVIEW: Dead End was impressive in their win in Week 2 but something was missing in their step, in their swagger. To spice things up, we matched up Dead End against Game Breakers. Dead End's PG, Rob Delrosario is the current assist record holder with 9 assists and he accomplished that while playing for Game Breakers. The combustible PG will have center stage as he takes on his friends and former team, Game Breakers. Don't get too caught up Rob, Johnmar DeGuzman leads the league in three-pointers made and the silent assassin is capable of scoring in bunches.

Elements' Team Captain, Luke Montilla: "I'm LUKE'ing to pass this season. Against Phenoms, I'll be looking to pass by Ken, again. "

Head official, Reggie Ramirez: "You don't want it. You don't want it."

PREVIEW: B-LO's Team Captain Lawrence Pelagio ranks 4th in three-points made with 7 three's this season. They lost a heartbreak last week and they attempt to avenge their defeat against Thrillers who lost convincingly against Team Dime in Week 2. A lot of players are injured in both squads and the battle of the cellar-dwellers should be a tight contest. Commish, "No one wants be known as winless. We got stomped last week but now, I'm at my original stomping grounds."

PREVIEW: DSK's Richard Hak is tied for first in three-points made with 5 three's and is 3rd in the Platinum Division in points per game with 20 ppg this season. #1 Stunners Ray Saldilar is tied for 4th in scoring with 18 ppg. The #1 Stunners easily won last week against Bank and are 1-0. DSK made the score respectable against Dead End after a late run and are looking for their first win of the season.

Dear Superstar players,

The roster pages for all teams will be completed by this weekend. Sit tight!

Team Captains, please read the upcoming Newsletter this Friday for some very important developments.

I want to congratulate Co-Commish, Tommy Avalos, on getting married this past week in Hawaii. "Another one bites the dust..."

Lastly, I want to thank each and everyone of you for the support you show in our League. I browse around Myspace during my uhhh.. break.... and uhh... I see the new Team pages, the articles re-posted, the pictures from our League posted. More fans are coming to the games, fans are video-taping games and taking pictures from the stand. The League is so diverse, we're all different one way or another, but our common ground is our love for the game of basketball. With that said, Happy Valentines Day, Spalding. I know you love us too.
