PREVIEW: "This is going to be a rebuilding season for us," claims Team Captain Josh Rotscheck. Gone is MVP, Aric Williams (23.1 ppg) who is headed for Arena Football. Ryan Maine (13.4 ppg) and Ryan Smith (12.3 ppg) will need to step up their offense if they're hoping to return to the Finals this season. Dynasty ended Outkast Connection's season in the Semis. We know Flight One's Marcus Richardson, Brian Lumbreras, and Anthony Palacol haven't forgotten about it either.

PREVIEW: Relics was absolutely humiliated last week in their big loss against Angkor Wat. They look to rebound this week against Abstract. Abstract celebrated their first victory last week against Phenoms. Co-Captain Jonash Salvador is taking a new role in facilitating the offense and his 5 assists was a Superstar career-high. Phenoms couldn't get the job done last week. Let's see if their rivals, Relics, can get the job done.

12 p.m.  Freestyle vs. Game Breakers Thrillers vs. Team Dime 11 a.m.  Thrillers vs. Team Dime
PREVIEW: Game Breakers suffered a huge loss against Xplosion last week and no one was more disappointed than Co-Commish, Tommy Avalos. "No one hustled out there."  Freestyle Team Captain Holden Williams knows his team will be ready for their Superstar debut on Sunday. They see a lot of each other on Tuesday nights at the Rancho scrimmage games. Freestyle won't have a problem proving that their team is officially better by beating Game Breakers this Sunday. A loss here could put Game Breakers on a 0-2 hole.

PREVIEW: Team Dime loves playing in Superstar Basketball League but this Sunday, they'll have obligations to play in other leagues. The deadline to request for schedule changes is on Wednesday at Midnight. "I could care less about the other leagues. You think you're a Superstar, then you play here..." countered The Commish. He will make his debut for Thrillers but he knows that this is the Reyes' team and he will have to bow down to last season's assists leader, Anna Reyes. Team Dime's Matt Stein scored 20 points last week. Look for him to 'pad his stats' against the lowly Thrillers.

Preview   |   Game Stats    |   Recap

RECAP: Team Dime nearly hit the century mark as Matt Stein and Thomas combine for 79 points. They beat on the Thrillers, 97-57. Tony Johnson had the first dunk of the League by going baseline and throwing it down.

2 p.m.  Swish vs.  Xplosion Outkast Connection vs. BBC 1 p.m.  Outkast vs. Billionaire Ball Club
PREVIEW: Surf the pages of MySpace and you'll realize that some players from Xplosion have already declared itself the winner of this match-up. Player of the Week, Adrian Camarena: "I scored 22pts! Get ready for this Sunday the team we play isn't that good so you need to get your stats up " Swish's Team Captain Jeff Lee knows his guys will be ready to step it up. "We play with pride." The Ninofranco Brothers (Ron and Ryan) is considered one of the most efficient brother combos in the League. Their match-up against the Camarena Brothers should be one of the most intriguing match-ups of the day.

PREVIEW: Billionaire Ball Club's Andrew Persaud was  the most enthusiastic Team Captain in the offseason. After a 1 week delay, their 2nd season will finally start. (He will be featured in this week's Player Spotlight). They will face the bad boys known as Outkast, which was up to no good again last week, easily defeating B-LO-DA-RIM, 51-37. They were shooting 3's from all over the place and the featured match-up will be their leading 3 pt shooters: BBC's Jason Prasad finished with a total of 17 last season. Jeff Bencito and Anthony Palacol each finished with 12 three's.

PREVIEW: Global Gym will finally be awarded their Championship trophies and will receive it in front of Mindstate, a team managed by ex Team Dime guard, Jay-R DeRamos. Team Dime was favored by their peers to play in the Championships against Global Gym. Both teams were ranked #1 and #2 throughout the course of last season. Outkast Connection ended Dime's season in a 1st round upset and G.G. went on to win the Championship. That very same trophy we're presenting on Sunday, could have been Jay-R's. Could-have been. PREVIEW: Aztecs Ryan Mileski scored 35 points in his Superstar debut and he was absolutely a force in the paint against Elements. His teammate, Brian Valladares, scored 22 points, 4 steals and the duo combined for 57 points. The Aztecs look to continue their dominant performance against Phenoms, a team who claims they gave away a win last week. Ken Ngarayawongse was their leading scorer with 22 points while Ryan Francisco was a distant second with 13 points. Phenoms need big games from their top 2 scorers if they want to keep the game competitive.

4 p.m.  Deacons vs. Foundation Deacons vs.Foundation 6 p.m.  Elements vs. Angkor Wat
PREVIEW: Deacons, Jovan, has arguably the sweetest jumper in the league. "Dude with the #1 jersey, his jumpshot is wet," proclaimed an anonymous scout.  Foundation's Team Captain Mike Tee is also regarded as one of the most consistent jump shooters in the League. It will be exciting to see both jump shooters go at it. Another match-up to watch is Mark Moton vs. Olay Cayode (not related to Wile E.) Olay has replaced Lalo Arroyo  as Foundation's Center and the battle of the boards will be a huge factor in this game.

RECAP: Mike Tee was supposed to disappear but somehow stood tall amongst the giants. Foundation couldn't beat the undefeated Deacons, 55-47.

PREVIEW: Angkor Wat's Khorn Leng scored 40 points in his debut and it will be interesting to see how he follows up that performance against Elements. Khorn hit 6 three's and was virtually automatic throughout the game. How Elements defend his shot relies heavily on the long arms of Captains, Luke Montilla and the tenacity of James Bernardo. Don't forget about Joseph Flores, who scored 23 points in his opener. A loss here would have Elements at 0-2, a familiar record from last season they started 0-3.

Preview   |  Game Stats    |   Recap

RECAP: Angkor Wat's Joseph Flores broke the scoring record (set earlier in the day by Thomas' 41) going for a Superstar League high, 47 points but couldn't hold the lead as PBA Elements win, 83-79.

8 p.m.  Dead End vs. DSK

7 p.m.  Deep Penetration vs. B-LO-DA-RIM
PREVIEW: Dead End and DSK will make their Superstar debut this Sunday. Dead End's newly acquired PG, Rob Delrosario was disappointed that his season didn't start last week but still made it out to support his ex-teammates from Game Breakers. Steve Kim was also disappointed at not being able to play the first week. Well fellas, don't disappoint us with a dismal game.

Preview   |   Game Stats    |   Recap

RECAP: Dead End won their Superstar debut 58-44. Brandon Reyes and EJ Latorre each scored 21 points and DSK couldn't 'stick to their game plan'.

Dynasty's leading rebounder, Ryan Maine: "This is a rebuilding season for us."

B-LO-DA-RIM's, JC Rivera: "I gotta work harder.. Im hecka tired of makin excuses on why i didnt make a shot., get a rebound, get a block..."

PREVIEW: Both teams are looking for their first win. More importantly, this game will pit the team with the brightest jerseys vs the team with the tackiest jerseys. Deep Penetration's Jack Moore posted a double-double with 16 points, 14 rebounds wearing his white tee and hand-written number. B-LO-DA-RIM's Nico scored 15 points in his flossy jersey and was lightning quick with 4 steals.

Preview   |   Game Stats    |   Recap

RECAP: Deep Penetration's late addition, Mike, hit the only 3-pointer for D.P. with a hail mary bank-shot that stunned B-LO-DA-RIM, 42-39.

Tommy Avalos

Co-Commissioner
     Logistics & Facilities

Hey Guys, it’s the Co-Commish, first off I would like to start with my apologies for the first week, without going in to it, Pomona, WOW, we will not have that problem again and as Hanz said “if you want details ask”.  I am here for any suggestions that anyone should have and if you know of a gym that you think would be a good addition to our current gyms let me know and if you have a contact number even better.  Thanks to Martin for helping out, we appreciate it.

Welcome to all the new teams and welcome back to returning teams.  We strive to make your games fun and your stats accurate.  I can definitely say that I am looking forward to all the comp.  Players, if you haven’t navigated the site, DO IT, Hanz has a ton of cool stuff especially the stats and if you know of any teams that want to join have them contact us as soon as possible, as when it comes to new teams we are on a first come first serve basis, and word on the streets there isn’t too much room for many more teams.

Now regarding the first week:

For the teams that showed up, thanks, good games and good sportsmanship, but the one issue that really bothered me, one team in particular….you know who you are, when you show up and your jerseys don’t have numbers or the same numbers DO NOT WRITE IN DIFFERENT NUMBERS ON THE STAT LOG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  We make sure that the stats are accurate and when you change numbers, like when you have, let’s say for example two # 33’s and the log shows, for example one # 9 and one #33 and also for example, one #3 but  the jersey is, for example blank, how in the world should stats be right?  I thought about this and they can’t be, luckily we do care (a little) and want stats to be accurate, so we took care of it.  Please do your part and make sure the game logs are accurate.  Make sure all numbers are on the stat log, that was another one that made our day even better, a player scores only for us to see he’s not on the roster we don’t know everyone’s names, we need your guys’ help also.

As far as jersey’s go, Team Captains should get a hold of players and make sure everyone gets the same color jerseys or at least semi-similar in color, try to stay away from purple, white and red for one team, come on guys, even the all-star team gets matching jersey’s.  All in all I enjoyed the first week (except for losing, wack, I would say I am going to get in shape, but unfortunately, the beer companies are brewing beer and I need to drink it, so running, I will just have to get more players)

Play hard and have fun.

Recruiting Wars
When the deadline for adding players ended on January 28, a slew of
teams forgot about winning with their friends and were opting for the easy way out. Several teams wasted the Commish's time and instead
of being organized in the offseason, Team Captains were trying to add
players after the DEADLINE TO ADD PLAYERS WAS CLEARLY STATED.

Global Gym changed their name to Global Domination.

Michael Camarena, Karl Camarena, Lalo Arroyo,
Charles Elias, Patrick Elias, Raul "Magic" Aguilar,
Finals MVP - Mike Villa.

Platinum Division is extremely competitive and its defense that win games. Players are more athletic and the stats aren't as impressive as the Gold Division stats. Here are the key players for some of the games.

Marcus Richardson, Flight One - 25 points, 3 three-pointers.
Vic Buchanon, Dynasty - 21 points, 4 assists, 4 steals.
Steven Watts, Freestyle - 15 rebounds, 15 points in a loss.
Derrick Devan, Mindstate - 28 points, 11 boards, and a monster dunk on defending champs, Global Gym.
Ben, Deacons - 17 rebounds, 9 points.
EJ Latorre, Dead End - 21 points, 4 assists.
Terrance Taylor, #1 Stunners - 9 points, 5 rebounds, and the third and final dunk of the evening.

He dunked on Global Gym numerous times and spoiled the Championship Trophy presentation for the defending champs. Mindstate's Center, Derrick Devan, stood above 2 MVPs in Mike Villa and Lalo Arroyo and easily scored 28 points and 11 boards. Derrick is your Platinum Division's Player of the Week for Week 2.

The Gold Division doesn't play defense. The fun-and-gun games have a lot of players posting record highs in scoring and the 'PBA player' Christian Gopez delivered an improbable win for Elements.

Christian Gopez, Elements - 9 three-pointers, 27 points.
Joseph Flores, Angkor Wat - 47 points, 9 rebounds in a loss.
Thomas Cruz, Team Dime - 41 points, 6 three's.
Matt Stein, Team Dime - 38 points, 4 assists, 7 three's.
Ryan Mileski, Aztecs - 35 points, 6 three-pointers, 5 steals.
Tony Johnson, Team Dime - 4 blocks, 18 rebounds, 1st dunk.
Mike Singh, BBC - 16 boards, 10 points.
Mike, Deep Penetration - Game winner against B-LO-DA-RIM.

Player of the Week is no other than Christian Gopez. Elements were down the whole way until Alex Jeff and Christian Gopez got the team within striking distance. He connected on a new record, 9 three-pointers. Congratulations Christian, for being Player of the Week for Week 2 in the Gold Division.

TONY JOHNSON
TEAM DIME / MINDSTATE
"Can't take the funk off a nasty dunk."

The first dunk of the League came on a breakaway and it left a lot of players awestruck. The Team Dime guard looked like he was going for a layup and out of nowhere, crammed the rock on the tin. The humble guard didn't have to celebrate as the players did that for him. Talented and humble, that's a plus.

DERRICK DOVAN
MINDSTATE
"Excuse me as I kiss the sky."

Totally dominated against Global Gym thus earning him Player of the Week honors. The big man dunked it so many times it scared the beejesus out of Lalo Arroyo. We called Lalo for an interview and his voice was still trembling.

TERRENCE TAYLOR
#1 STUNNERS
"Hoooooooooo"

Maybe it was because it the last game of the night, but you could hear the pin drop after Terrence dunked the rock. His attempt to wow the crowd let out a weak "Hoooooo." We could have sworn we heard owls.

ALEX JEFF
ELEMENTS
"Are you serious?"

The fact that Alex even tried to dunk turned several heads in the crowd. The Sprite commercial hopeful's attempt to steal the show failed and it was so embarrassing we did him a favor by using a star as his face. Nice try, Superstar.
