COMMISH & CO-COMMISH ASSIGNED NEW TEAMS
JANUARY 27, 2007
WALK BEFORE YOU TALK
The League announced late Friday night that League Commissioner, Hanz Jimenez, will be obligated to play for a team in the Platinum Division. The league Co-Commissioner, Tommy Avalos, was also assigned to play for a Gold Division team.
The league commissioners were assigned to play for Dynasty (Commish) and Phenoms (Co-Commish). Both players are obligated to write articles for the League and it would only be fair for its players that both writers compete against their teams so that they have an understanding of their competition.
"Last season, Dynasty had two Filipinos that did virtually nothing on the court. They need to be efficient in their personnel. Why have two when you can have one Filipino who can do nothing?" joked Hanz Jimenez. He will still be restricted from playing in the Playoffs if Dynasty and Thrillers does indeed make the Playoffs. Platinum Division's Eastern Conference includes: #1 Stunners, Dead End, DSK, Flight One, Freestyle, and Game Breakers. Dynasty is hoping to return to the Championships but if the current trend continues, they will most likely have a dismal showing this season. Game Breakers went undefeated in the regular season and lost to Foundation in the 1st Season. The following season, G.B., went 5-3 and was eliminated in the Semis. Dynasty will be missing their MVP, Aric Williams, and have already claimed that this will be a rebuilding season. "This is fun and games for us. We work all day, we play ball at the gym, and the League is an opportunity for us to compete, have fun, and build our network. Winning would be nice, but it's not our main objective." explained Team Captain Josh Rotscheck. It will be interesting to see how his ex-teammates from Platinum Division's Foundation react to the assignment. Currently, he is playing for his new team, Thrillers, hoping to get away from the pressures of managing a Platinum Division team. He is already anticipating the reactions of some of his teammates and mocked all of his ex-teammates. (Alfred Flores) "Eyy, what's up with that eyyy. You leave Foundation then u go to Thrillers then to Dynasty. Duudde. I see how it is, you're like Lalo, ey."
Co-Commish, Tommy Avalos, was assigned to play for Phenoms after Angkor Wat's, Khorn Leng, scored a record 40 points. Commish argued that while his 40 points is impressive, it shouldn't be recognized as the scoring record only because the feat took place in the Gold Division. "Platinum Division is ultra-competitive. That's where records are set, that's where teams should be really, really recognized. Gold Division is for recreation, players have fun competing against their friends from other teams. Winning is good but c'mon, it's the minor league compared to the major league, Platinum Division. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to insult Khorn but what if a Platinum Division type player wanted to break records and was doing it against Gold Division caliber teams?" Tommy is currently playing for Platinum Division's Game Breakers but his curiosity of how good the Gold Division really is led him to the assignment. "Game Breakers is fun and it's very competitive. Sometimes, I just want to have fun and mess around too. Alvin looks like he's having fun so why have one clown when you can have two?" The league will decide in the offseason to see how game records in the Gold Division will be recognized.
