626'ers Kevin Valmonte wins MVP award.
The losing season last season is nothing but a distant memory for 626'ers and they have Kevin Valmonte's stellar play to thank them for the number one seed heading into the Playoffs. The tenacious defender led the division in steals with a total of 28 steals and the easy picks led to easy buckets as Kevin led the division in scoring. He averaged 26.6 ppg and led 626'ers to a 7-1 record. His mantra of playing "40 minutes" a game defined 626'ers successful Sophomore season.
Evan Nankung led the division in blocked shots with a total of 25 blocks for the season. The Underdawgs Center was also the top shot blockers in the Platinum Division tying for second in blocked shots with a total of 12. Alex "Bear" Ivezaj's numbers were lower this season but his tenacity on the boards and his knack for playing defense kept Money Inc on top of the division.
OJ Yayboe quickly moved up the divisions as a rookie playing for 3 teams: Thrillers, Main Event, and Foundation. He set the assists record in the highest division with 17 assists, a mark previously set by Steven Watts. Yayboe ranked second in the team in scoring with 18.8 ppg and led his team with 16 dimes. Kabibbles' guard Robert Bautista earned Player of the Week honors in Week 5 scoring 42 points and grabbing 7 rebounds.
Gold Division's GM of the Season race was one of the closest in Superstar Basketball history. Money Inc.'s Andrew Persaud finally reached his goal of becoming GM of the Season. His team started off to a strong 5-0 start before fading away at the end of the season with a 3 game losing streak. On Week 3, the unit debuted their Money Inc jerseys along with matching shoes that had other players mesmerized at their well thought out unis. "Not only are we undefeated, I showed up at the 1 Yr Anniversary, went to the GM Meeting, gave my ideas, was the first to pay, and we're undefeated," he said (during Week 5). Don Clark has won the first ever GM of the Year award but has yet to win a GM of the Season award. The Hungry Hippos girls are also one of the organized GMs in the league and their support for the franchise had the team finish the season with a franchise best, 5-3 record.
When "Super J" was hitting 3-pointers for #1 Stunners, no one was impressed. His shot is clearly on point but his lack of touches produced just 4 points per game last season. With a new role with Money Inc., he ranked second in three pointers made with 26 and produced a team-high 17.9 ppg. Runner-up, James Bernardo, finally attained his goal of leading the division in assists (26), a goal he's been trying to reach since Superstar's Inaugural Season when he played for Dynasty.
