POST SEASON AWARDS
SEPTEMBER 23, 2007
Black Out's rookie, Keith Allen named MVP.
Superstar Basketball League announced early Sunday morning that Black Out's Keith Allen won MVP awards in his first season. Keith won the scoring title averaging 29.4 ppg and scoring 206 total points for his first season. "It would be great if I were named MVP," he said in a recent edition of Superstar Radio. The big man can do everything and that was obvious when he nailed 8 three pointers in his first game against Foundation. He finished the season with a total of 15 three's and was edged out of the rebounding title by Matt Lewis. Keith averaged 13.1 rpg, 1.6 spg, and 3.1 apg. Alphonso White also stood out for Young Gunnaz and this season, he was able to lead his team to the Playoffs with an average of 22.1 ppg,
It was difficult to determine who the Defensive Player of the Season was. Jordan Richards stood out from the Problem but his numbers weren't as impressive as everyone else's despite The Problem's undefeated record. Matt Lewis edged out Keith Allen for the award. Foundation is a run-and-gun team but Matt puts the emphasis on defense, an aspect of the game his teammates simply aren't interested in. Matt averaged 2.0 spg, and once again grabbed the rebounding title with a total of 104 rebounds (13.0 rpg).
"The Kid" was impressive with his three-point shooting and the league's leading three point shooter led the way with 35 three's. Ryan averaged 21.9 ppg and was second in blocked shots with a total of 12 blocks.
Dennis Adams won the General Manager of the Season Award after going undefeated in The Problem's first season. The League Commissioner has been raving about Dennis' team management skills since the GM meeting and Dennis was consistent throughout the season. "He shows up at the General Manager's meeting dressed up like Andre3000. Not only was he the first one to pay via Paypal but his rosters were submitted and by Week 3, the whole team had uniforms. If he keeps this up for a year, Don Clark better watch out." Team-Play's Orlando Williams has the same organization skills as Dennis and both made life easier for the league commissioner. "When General Managers are organized, it's faster for me to get things done," the league commissioner added.
Eric Tabatabai disappeared from the Stunners roster two seasons ago an when he re-appeared with Hardest Out, he surprised not only his former teammates but the league. He set the new blocks records in Week 2 against Young Gunnaz with 9 blocks and he finished the season with a total of 18 blocks. "Granted if his team won more games, Defensive Player of the Season award could have been his too," said a league analyst.
