 LEAGUE SUSPENSION

FOUNDATION AND FREESTYLE ALTERCATION
MAY 15, 2007

Superstar Basketball League suspended several players for their involvement in an incident that occurred on Sunday, May 13, 2007 (Mother's Day).

The altercation is the first incident for Superstar Basketball League this season. It was the first game that officials had to end without a result. The game resulted in a draw and the referees felt that the game shouldn't continue because another incident could have transpired. League officials stated, "There were a lot of family members in the stands being that it was Mother's Day. We are disappointed at the conduct of both teams and we apologize to those who witnessed this unfortunate event. We have to abide by the rules and that is ZERO TOLERANCE for fighting."

The play occurred in the closing minutes of a highly contested game. Freestyle's Ron Ninofranco (former Rookie of the Season) committed a Type-2 Flagrant foul and was eventually going to be tossed out from the game. Foundation's Andrew Gupilan retaliated by charging at him and League officials concluded that his attempt to retaliate cost his participation for all Superstar Basketball League events.

In the past, players who left the bench automatically earned a 2 game suspension. Freestyle's General Manager, Holden Williams, was disappointed at the outcome as was Foundation's Co-Captain, Christian Gopez.

"It's just basketball."
