END OF
THE SEASON AWARDS - PLATINUM DIVISION
DECEMBER
15, 2007
The
Association wins two prestigious awards.
Association's
undefeated season was a team effort but one
player stood out from the self-proclaimed
"bosses". Kenneth Ubom led Money Inc
to a Gold Division Championship last season
and was rewarded with a Finals MVP award.
This season he was named Player of the Week
3 times and finished the season averaging
32.5 ppg, 260 points. He also led the
Platinum Division in steals with a total of
26 steals, 3.3 spg. The team's main goal is
to win a Championship before graduating from
college and Kenneth has guaranteed a
Championship season. "No one can beat us, as
long as we play like bosses that we are, we
cash our checks at the end of the day, and
that's it, it's a wrap." Ryan "The Kid"
was a close runner-up for MVP averaging
a record 39.1 ppg, 313 points for the
season. (previous scoring record held by
Angkor Wat's Khorn Leng).
Defensive Player of the Season Award came down to the wire between USUCK's Derrick DeVan and Money Inc.'s Alex "Bear" Ivezaj. On Week 8, Bear posted a triple double and his tenacity on the boards was enough to convince the panel that he was deserving of the award. Angkor Wat's John Muro grabbed the rebounding record this season grabbing 32 rebounds against Game Breakers.
Street Fam Hustlas finished the season with a surge winning 3 straight games. The 5-3 record wasn't possible without team chemistry and leadership. Rookie guard Matt Mosley stepped it up averaging 13.9 ppg, and finishing with team-highs of 17 three's, 24 assists. Relics Chris Davidson was a near second for the award and he averaged 15.6 ppg, 2.7 apg.
The General Manager of the Season Award was awarded to Efehi Ogbebor of The Association. The team finished with a 5-3 record last season and the team improved greatly in the off-season. Undefeated record meant Efehi would be awarded with the GM of the Season award. Not in the ballot was USUCK GM, Hanz Jimenez, who received numerous recommendations in the seasonal surveys. Asked why he wasn't on the ballot, he responded, "It's not about me, it's about everyone else, I run the league and there's no way I'm winning an award." Jon Paras' Still Fly was plagued with injuries all season but after leading the team to 3 straight wins and nearly making the Playoffs, Jon was regarded as one of the top General Managers of the Season.
Kenneth Ubom stood out as
one of the most improved players of the
season but Chris Mosley's team
management skills were more noticeable.
Remix finished the season with new jerseys
and the team won 2 games this season.
"Christmas came a little early for Remix,
with improbable victories against Full Clip
and SBD. I guess anything can happen on any
given week," said an opposing GM.
